Cheers for Rain Harvesting

Editor,

Like Jane Egly, I did not want to take precious Saturday morning time to listen to Brad Lancaster’s talk about harvesting rainwater, but I got caught up in the topic and ended up staying for an hour (“Slow It, Spread It, Sink It,” May 27 edition).

What a revolutionary set of ideas and plans this man offers, and municipally virtually cost-free!  Simple things that people can do at their homes to catch rainwater and cut down their Colorado River water bills. I have done nothing but rave about his good work since the talk. It was particularly interesting to hear and then read in your pages about the inadvertent destruction of the canyon wetlands and how that very likely caused/contributed to this year’s tragic flooding. Hope he comes back soon and totally support the Annaliese project as a true evolutionary step in this important work.

One thing that was not mentioned was the website:  www.harvestingrainwater.com and www.desertharvesters.org. See? I’m doing it again–raving!!

Thanks to Brad Lancaster, and Seeds for promoting these kinds of ideas.
