Two speakers who focus on children’s nutrition are featured guests Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Coffee Break, the PTA-sponsored adult education workshop held at Aliso Creek Inn at 8 a.m.
Local Melanie R. Silverman, a registered dietician, will provide effective strategies to improve the nutritional health of our families.  She will focus on how to empower children to grow up having healthy and responsible relationships with food.  She will cover sports nutrition, body image issues and the latest strategies for specialized diets, such as gluten-free foods.
Debra Appel, the school district’s director of food services, will discuss initiatives to improve the quality of school food. Specifically, she will explain the “Farm to School” and “Chefs to School” programs.
Parents are invited. The suggested donation is $10 for coffee, pastries, camaraderie and enlightenment.
