The Police Are Not to Blame
Editor,
I’m appalled to hear that the Koenig family has hired a high profile lawyer who obviously plans to sue the city. While I was sympathetic to the family who lost a son, that sympathy has quickly evaporated. I was surprised and relieved that no one else was killed that day, I was a witness that day to the speeding and the aftermath of the crash. Full Story

A Local Economic Stimulus Roadmap
Editor,
Dennis Myers’s letter of March 5 challenges the assertions of Billy Fried that the reason so many storefronts are empty is because of high rents, but counters that the reason is “Our current city witch-hunts, regulations, and ordinances are stacked to assure those businesses that get CUPs will fail, or at best under perform.” Full Story

Cigarette butts were strewn about every six to eight inches. Full Story

Revolted by Dog Housing Suggestion
Editor,
I am writing in response to a letter to the editor in last week’s Indy. The writer suggests housing the homeless in plastic doghouses.
I find this suggestion to be profoundly offensive, on many levels. Are we to seriously consider putting the mentally ill, true of many of our homeless citizens, and the financially unfortunate in doghouses? Full Story
A Constitutional Right
Editor: Maybe it was that headline that prompted one Lagunan to suggest in a letter to the Independent that a better alternative to the ASL would be dog kennels. Full Story

Still Drawbacks to Eucaplytus
Editor,
In response to Ms. Henry (“In Defense of Willowy Eucalyptus,” Letters, March 5).
Au contraire, I do have the Sunset Magazine Guide to Western Region; bought it when I took landscaping classes and irrigation management courses in the ‘70s from a teacher who was cutting-edge on water conservation and planting for our soil. Full Story
