Police said he almost hit a police unit before continuing out LCR
where he tossed a bottle out before stopping.
DUI Checkpoint - Coast Hwy & Vista Del Sol - Southbound
9 p.m. Friday through 2 a.m. Saturday
Police stopped 467 of 1,811 vehicles that passed through the first DUI
checkpoint in Laguna in about two years. 11 DUI arrests were made and
six citations issued to other drivers for driving without a valid license.

Ocean Way - 1900 Block Burglary, residential
7:32 a.m. Computer equipment was taken.
S, Coast Hwy - 800 Block Vandalism, vehicle
9:55 a.m. A vehicle was keyed.
Laguna Canyon Road - 2200 Block Fraud; ID theft
11:42 a.m. The RP learned that an unknown person had been using
his social security number for employment when the IRS placed a
tax lien against a bank account.
Mountain Road - 100 Block Warrant arrest
6:07 p.m. Jason P. Lutz, 39, was arrested for a harbor Court Laguna
Hills warrant for municipal violations - city unknown.
Tuesday
N. Coast Hwy - 900 Block Warrants
12:05 a.m. Irvine resident Cheryl Debra Price, 51, was arrested for
three outstanding Central Court warrants. All three had a charge
of criminal contempt with the additional charges of battery and
unlawful entry on one warrant.
S. Coast Hwy - 800 Block Burglary, residential
9:31 a.m. An apartment was entered. There were no apparent signs
of forced entry and the RP said a spare key was under the doormat.
Losses, if any, were not disclosed.
Cozumel - 100 Block Petty theft
1:39 p.m. Both license plates were stolen from the RP's vehicle at
some point overnight.
Wednesday
Glenneyre & Calliope Street Possession of stolen property
1:07 a.m. Robert James Guinther, 54, homeless, was taken into
custody when police discovered stolen property in his possession.
That led to a felony arrest for possession of known stolen property
and a misdemeanor charge of possession of burglary tools.
Park Avenue - 200 Block Warrants
2:30 a.m. A homeless man, Mark John Lane, 50, was taken into
custody on four Harbor Court warrants - all for FTA 647F.
Broadway & Beach Street Warrant arrest
3:11 a.m. Riverside resident Justin Mills Macey, 37, was arrested on
an unspecified San Bernardino County warrant.
Smithcliffs Road Vandalism
2:15 p.m. A resident provided police with a possible suspect who
cut down tress on the RP's property.
S. Coast Hwy - 700 Block Warrant arrest
7:39 p.m. A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Alaska resident
Joshua Allan Turner, 33, for an outstanding Harbor Court warrant
for DUI.
Thursday
Ocean Avenue - 200 Block Warrant arrest
10:04 a.m. George Reasons, 56, was arrested for a Harbor Court
warrant for FTA public intoxication.
Temple Terrace - 1200 Block Petty theft
3:05 p.m. The battery was stolen out of a Toyota pickup.
Pavilions Parking Lot Drug arrest
3:30 p.m. Undercover officerssuccessfully carried out a "buy -
bust" operation arresting Lake Forest resident Patrick Gregory Bird,
30, for possession of drugs for sales. Police said Bird allegedly
brought more than 30 painkillers to sell to the cops.
Myrtle Street & High Drive Vandalism
4:51 p.m. Red graffiti was found on the sidewalk.
S. Coast Hwy - 2100 Block Felony warrant; probation violation
8:59 p.m. Police arrested Laguna Beach resident David Joseph
Galiazzo, 33, for an outstanding no bail warrant with charges
of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a
hypodermic needle. He was also charged with possession of drug
paraphernalia. His probation officerordered that he be held for
violating probation.
Mission Viejo Warrant served
10:03 p.m. Officerswent to a residence in Mission Viejo to serve
a warrant and arrest Jennifer Filipowicz, 42, on charges of drug
possession and driving on a license revoked for a DUI conviction.
Friday
Park Avenue - 2800 Block Battery
6:22 a.m. A man delivering the Los Angeles Times was stopped by
a resident who began a verbal confrontation because the resident
wanted his paper delivered earlier. The RP drove away and
eventually returned down Park Avenue when the resident threw
the paper through an open window hitting the RP in the head as he
drove past the suspect's home…on the other side of Park Ave.
Laguna Canyon Road - 800 Block Grand theft
10:07 a.m. Items were taken from the exterior of a business at some
time overnight.
S. Coast Hwy & Cardinal Drive Warrants
1:04 p.m. Scott Joseph Danca, 29, Riverside, was arrested for two
warrants during a traffic stop - from BellflowerCourt on a charge
of battery and a traffic warrant from Superior Court. A search added
a new charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Laguna Canyon Road - 20400 Block Burglary, vehicle
7:16 p.m. A purse was stolen.
Saturday
Ocean Avenue - 200 Block Public intoxication
12:30 a.m. Officersarrested Ontario, Canada resident Eric John
Love, 22, for public intoxication.
Cliff Drive - 400 Block Vandalism
8:55 a.m. Two parking meters were painted gold.
Temple Hills Drive - 400 Block Burglary, residential ++++
11:21 a.m. The owners of a home under construction surprised a
man placing tools and copper wire from the site into a green Ford
Ranger pickup. The RP tried to block the pickup only to have the
suspect attempt to ram his vehicle. Police were called and the
vehicle spotted in the 200 block of Ocean Avenue, where police
made a felony car stop at gunpoint, which closed the street. Officers
discovered the suspect's 9-year-old son was a passenger. As officers
took Tibursio Castillo, 31, Santa Ana into custody, he allegedly
scuffled before being subdued. He was charged with burglary,
grand theft, possession of known stolen property and possession of
cocaine as well as resisting an officerand driving without a license,
both misdemeanors. He was also held for an outstanding Central
Court felony warrant with charges of possession of drugs for sales
and transportation of drugs. His son was taken to the police station
and later released to relatives.
S. Coast Hwy - 1300 Block Petty theft
3:23 p.m. An employee of Coast Inn Liquor called 9-1-1 to report
that a shoplifter left southbound on Coast Hwy in a white Ford
Escort after grabbing a twelve pack of beer. Police were able to
make a car stop at Aliso Beach where Edward Robert Buckley, 18,
Mission Viejo was arrested for petty theft.
Coast Hwy & 7th Avenue Warrant arrest
10:16 p.m. Antonio Alzadi, 33, Dana Point, was arrested for an
outstanding traffic warrant.
Sunday
Thalia Street - 600 Block Credit card fraud
9:36 a.m. The RP's American Express card was used by an
unknown person to charge $1504.03.
Coast Hwy - 32100 Block Vandalism
10:22 a.m. Five solar Malibu lights and a pair of decorative
skimboards were damaged.
Ceanothus Drive - 31200 Block Vandalism, vehicle
11:53 a.m. The RP believes that a known suspect may have poured
a liquid over his 2006 Hummer.
Mermaid Street & Second Street Vandalism, vehicle
1:34 p.m. The RP informed police that a suspect described as being
about 18 wearing tan pants, a white shirt, a black cap and tennis
shoes had just kicked his car for no apparent reason. Police did an
area search but were not able to locate the suspect.
Jack In The Box Public intoxication
6:25 p.m. Officerswent to Jack In The Box after receiving a call
about a disturbance. Costa Mesa resident James Jesse Powell, 27,
was arrested for public intoxication.
Broadway Bus Depot Public intoxication
10:50 p.m. James Louis Durand, 49, homeless, was arrested for
public intoxication.
Glenneyre - 800 Block Grand theft
12:53 a.m. A woman who had locked her keys in her car in a
parking lot asked others to assist her and offered $40. A man
walked up to her - asked to see the $40 - then grabbed it from her
and took off on foot.
