Chateau Relaxo's Disappearing Pier
Workers packed up their tools after clearing the sand last week of rusted iron rebar and scraps, the remains of an already shortened former pier that jutted from the house known as Chateau Relaxo on Thousand Steps Beach. In a contest that lasted just under seven hours, 62 contestants battled for a $22,200 prize pool during the Laguna Beach Poker Club's 12th no-limit hold'em tournament earlier this month.
