Bon Jovi lead guitarist and Laguna Beach resident Richie Sambora was arrested late Tuesday for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. Within an hour of his 4 a.m. release, celebrity-gossip Internet sites broke the story of his arrest online. Police Sgt. Police Ranks Increase by Three
With three new police officers set to begin their field training next week, the police department has now filled eight openings in seven months. Tommy Bahama wins approval

Setting a New Standard Among Pet Rescuers
Last year veterinarian Matthew Wheaton met Crystal, a nine-month old black Lab puppy who was brought to his Laguna Hills clinic after vomiting for three days. She had a high fever, severe dehydration and septic shock. X-rays also showed an obstruction in her intestines. To recover, Crystal would need emergency surgery. Full Story

Lagunan Bill Wood Inducted OC College Hall of Fame
Laguna Beach resident C. William ("Bill") Wood has been inducted into Orange Coast College's Alumni Hall of Fame, and a plaque emblazoned with his image will hang in a special gallery in the college's new $33-million library, which opened its doors in January. Full Story
City Funds Treat Hospital's ER
The City Council made a gift of $112,000 to South Coast Medical Center last month, which will equip each of 12 beds in the emergency room with new cardiac monitors that measure a patient's vital signs. The donation also covered the cost of two defibrillators in the ER as well. Full Story
