Abrupt driving moves after 9 p.m. often mean DUI

    Editor: As a 25-year resident of Laguna, I consider the tone of the letter [5-2] from a citizen regarding her encounter in her car with a Laguna police officeron PCH after 9 p.m. to be unjustified and offensive. She wrote, "when a cop pulls up behind me, it tends to psych me out." And in that state, she abruptly turned off of PCH into a side street and parked at the curb. Full Story
A neighborhood's construction plight - by the numbers

Saving taxpayer $

    Editor: In the local papers last week, Billy Fried wrote championing the case for the private development of the village entrance. City's current idea about parking is from the early 1950s

Price domestic oil less than the imported

    Editor: We all know that oil prices are set, internationally, by OPEC. Let international prices fall where they will, but domestically produced oil should be held to a different and more realistic standard. "Bush whacked dollar"

    Editor: The continuing weak dollar policy of this administration is a disaster. Every time the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates it results in a greater supply of money, which is intended to stimulate the economy via cheaper borrowing to invest. Full Story
