Last month, Laguna Beach High School's football and girls swimming teams were named by the California Interscholastic Federation as section winners of the state's highest academic honors. College Grants its First Master's Degrees
On May 12, the commencement ceremony honoring the 80 students in the Laguna College of Art & Design class of 2008 took place on the grounds of the college. In addition to the bachelor of finearts recipients, the ceremony celebrated 14 members of the inaugural class of the master of finearts program, the first group to receive graduate degrees from LCAD. Indiana Jones' Show to Benefit Thurston Grads
The eighth-grade promotion committee presents a special movie premiere of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" on May 23 at 4 p.m. at the Regency Laguna Theatre. Tickets are $20 and include admission, a small drink, and popcorn. Purchase tickets a half hour before show time. Full Story
Summer School Not Only For Students
Parents can learn how to help their children while also learning more English by taking advantage of the school district's summer English class. The class is free, including refreshments, child care, and materials. English as a Second Language runs June 23 through July 18. Classes are Mon.-Fri. 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Full Story
Career Fair Makes Impressive Showing
Graduating seniors, postgraduate students, and recent alumni showcased their body of work to studios, designers, and executives at Laguna College of Art & Design's fourth annual industry open house on May 14. The locally famous Thalia Street beach will be hosting the seventh annual Laguna Surf and Sport Thalia St. Surfbout this Memorial Day weekend, sometime between May 24 and 26.
