Downtown Planners Take to the Streets
On a near 100-degree Monday, about 20 members of the public, elected and appointed officials and city staff sized up the state of affairs downtown by taking an hour-long walk at street level. The U.S. Commerce Department secretary ordered a public hearing over the dispute between the Transportation Corridor Agency and the California Coastal Commission, which had blocked TCA's plan to extend a south-county toll road through a San Clemente state park. Full Story

On May 12, the commencement ceremony honoring the 80 students in the Laguna College of Art & Design class of 2008 took place on the grounds of the college. In addition to the bachelor of finearts recipients, the ceremony celebrated 14 members of the inaugural class of the master of finearts program, the first group to receive graduate degrees from LCAD.
