Monday

Glenneyre - 300 Block Public Intoxication 10:14 a.m. Charles Anthony Neil, 44, no fixed address, was arrested for public intoxication.

Tuesday

S. Coast Hwy - 500 Block Grand Theft 10:29 a.m. A gallery reported the theft of a bronze marlin valued at $3200. The timeframe was undetermined.

Ceanothus Drive - 31100 Block Petty Theft 4:19 p.m. Mail was stolen.

S. Coast Hwy - 1800 Block Burglary, vehicle 5:25 p.m. The RP told police that $400 in cash was missing from its hiding place - under the floor mat in his vehicle. The car had been through a car wash on Saturday.

Wednesday

Aliso Beach Parking Lot Burglary, vehicle 6:01 p.m. A man reported discovering his car had been broken into after a credit card company informed him someone had attempted to use his card in Laguna Niguel.

Ralphs Parking Lot Strong-arm Robbery 6:44 p.m. A woman who had emerged from a market was accosted in the parking lot. A man hit her in the face, grabbed her $25 bag of groceries and a sweatshirt tied around her waist. The victim initially struggled with the suspect, who eventually fledwith her jacket and food. The suspect was described as in his 40s, 5-8, 160 pounds with black, stringy hair and wearing navy blue sweats. Police did an area search to no avail. A thief who uses force or fear rather than a weapon is legally definedas a strong-arm robber.

Thursday

Gaviota & St. Ann's Carjacking 7:28 a.m. A woman who drove to Laguna with a man she recently met was preoccupied on her cell phone when he apparently decided to leave town. The woman told police her companion reached into her pants' pocket, retrieved her car keys and took off northbound on Coast Highway as she tried to stop him. Despite a police broadcast to stop the white Toyota Matrix and the driver, he evaded arrest. The following day police received two calls. Thomas Wayne Caponera, 36, Huntington Beach, said he'd left the Toyota at a Goodyear store. HBPD reported Caponera was talking with a pastor and they were en route to take the suspected car thief into custody. He was turned over to LBPD and charged with felony crimes related to the carjacking and held without bail for parole violation. The Toyota was recovered, though damaged, police said.

Anita Street Beach Juveniles, marijuana 3:47 p.m. Beach Patrol officersdetained two Laguna Beach boys, both juveniles, when one was seen with marijuana. Officersissued a citation to one 17-year-old and released both to their parents.

Friday

S. Coast Hwy - 600 Block Public Intoxication + 12:54 a.m. Police received a call that a man was passed out in the flowers next to Taco Bell. On scene, officersarrested San Clemente resident Robert Earl Williams II, 29, for public intoxication. Once his identity was confirmed,he was also held on a San Bernardino DUI warrant with $25,000 bail.

Mall of Orange Under the influence 11:17 p.m. A Laguna Beach officercontacted Jason Ramirez, 23, of Lake Forest, and arrested him for being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was booked at the city jail.

Saturday

Aliso Creek Inn Fraud; Grand Theft 8:16 a.m. A local man went to Aliso Creek Inn for a meeting with a prospective business partner he had met months earlier in San Mateo. The RP and his wife met with their prospective partner in his room with "…a lot of cash, a Rolex watch and a laptop," police said. Since the bank was closed, they agreed to meet the following morning. The victim left the valuables with the prospective partner, who had fledwhen the victim returned as planned.

Laguna Canyon Road - 1000 Block Probation Violation + 3:40 p.m. A Laguna Beach man, Joel Murphy, 49, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. He was held without bail when his probation officerviolated his probation.

Coast Hwy - 330800 Block Burglary, vehicle 5:38 p.m. A purse was stolen out of a Lincoln Navigator.

Glenneyre - 600 Block Possession of Marijuana for Sales 9:06 p.m. Police made a routine traffic stop and were provided a name by the driver that could not be matched with DMV records. Suspicious, police searched the vehicle for 45 minutes, eventually finding a substantial quantity of marijuana. They also learned that Whittier resident Peter Black, 24, was driving with a revoked license, a minor charge along with felony possession of marijuana for sales and transportation of marijuana for sales. He was booked with bail set at $25,000 for each charge.

Surf and Sand Resort Grand Theft 10:09 p.m. Security at Surf and Sand called police when two men grabbed a chair valued at $2,500 from the lobby and fled. A security officerchased the pair until they dropped the chair and ran in different directions. Police arrived in short order and found Paul Donat, 31, of Mission Viejo, hiding on Agate Street. His accomplice wasn't located. Donat was positively identified by the security officerand charged with felony grand theft.

Sunday

Mountain Road - 100 Block Public Intoxication 1:46 a.m. Bonnie Alice Hyter, 19, Lake Forest, was arrested for public intoxication.

S. Coast Hwy & Center St Possession of a Deadly Weapon 2 a.m. Police immediately arrested Gary P. Estrada, 24, Riverside, when a knife was in plain view inside his car at a traffic stop.

Main Beach Warrant Arrest 3:02 p.m. Richard Alan Mayer, 38, no fixed address, was arrested on an outstanding Harbor Court warrant for 647F.

Three Arch Bay (S. Stonington) Burglary, residential + 9:46 p.m. When a resident returned to his home, he saw that his mailbox had been damaged and his house entered. Two tobacco pipes were missing.
