Incident Reports:
Monday - June 2 Cliff Drive - 300 Block Warrants 6:20 a.m. Police took Jerad Russell Brannen, 23, no fixed address, into custody for three traffic warrants. Two were out of Harbor Court Laguna Hills and the other, from Harbor Court, included a charge of DUI.
Aliso Beach Parking Lot Drugs ++ 8:25 a.m. City workers at Aliso reported a suspicious occupied white Hyundai parked on the beach lot. Officersarrived on scene and questioned the three male occupants inside the car. On the floorboard by the feet of one juvenile male, officerssaw a pipe used for smoking drugs. That led to a search for drugs that turned up syringes, another pipe, steroids and methamphetamine. All of the occupants were from Huntington Beach. Two boys, ages 16 and 17, were released to their parents after officersdetermined that all of the illegal items belonged to the driver, 26. Nicholas Marasco was taken into custody for felony possession of drugs, possession of the paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of minors. Marasco had picked up the boys in Huntington Beach and driven them here in order to do drugs, police said.
S. Coast Hwy - 500 Block Burglary, vehicle 10:53 a.m. A rental car was broken into in an underground lot. A tote bag with items estimated to be worth $2340 was taken.
Coast Hwy & Montage Resort Drive Brandishing a Weapon 1:08 p.m. A visitor from Arizona reported that while driving south on Coast Highway, a man in a silver Lexus with Texas license plates had "pulled a gun". The RP said the suspect had turned left on a street in South Laguna. Officersperformed an intensive area search but were unable to locate the Lexus.
Albertsons Center Burglary, vehicle 6:27 p.m. A Ford Focus was broken into in the underground lot. An iPod and a cell phone were taken from the center console.
Tuesday - June 3 Forest Ave - 300 Block Burglary, commercial (two reports) 8:57 a.m. Two reports were taken in two locations. One was a window smash and grab at a jewelry store. Police said the thief got away with necklaces and charms valued at $2500 that had been in a tray displayed in the front window. A lock was forced to gain entry at the second business. A loss of $300 was reported.
Victoria Beach Minors/Alcohol 2:43 p.m. Beach patrol officersrequested assistance after spotting a group of about 20 teenagers "drinking beer…" An 18-year-old from Chino Hills identified as Blake Devin Rodriguez, ran from an officerwho had detained him for questioning. He was captured in Blue Lagoon after a three-minute foot pursuit and charged for being a minor in possession of alcohol and giving police the name of another person instead of his own.
Police Station Warrant Arrest 6:17 p.m. Frank Lawrence Lopez, III, 22, Laguna Beach, was arrested on a Harbor Court warrant charging him with driving on a suspended or revoked license.
Eagle Rock Way - 31500 Block Vandalism, vehicle 6:42 p.m. A Toyota Sienna was keyed. The RP provided police with a possible named suspect.
N. Coast Hwy - 1400 Block Public Intoxication 6:50 p.m. Officersresponded when a passerby reported that a man was passed out on a bus bench. Curtis Grant Abbott, 43, no fixed address, was arrested for public intoxication.
S. Coast Hwy - 1500 Bl Felony Defrauding an Innkeeper + 10:42 p.m. Police were called to assist Surf & Sand management with a guest refusing to pay a $3500 bill. After investigating, officerstook Dollye Danielle Doyle, 32, of Louisiana, into custody for felony defrauding an innkeeper and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her companion, Timothy David Yanda, 28, Tustin, was arrested for being under the influence of methamphetamine.
Wednesday - June 4 Forest Avenue - 300 Block Burglary, vehicle 1:15 a.m. A gym bag with clothing inside was taken after the suspect smashed a window to make entry.
S. Coast Hwy - 1800 Block Vandalism, vehicle 9:27 a.m. A car window was smashed.
S. Coast Hwy - 500 Block Burglary, commercial 10:12 a.m. For the second time since Memorial Day, a gallery reported the theft of a bronze Marlin valued at $3500.
Forest Avenue - 300 Block Vandalism 10:58 a.m. Two businesses discovered smashed windows.
Cliff Drive - 500 Block Fraud; ID Theft 1 p.m. Credit card accounts were opened in the RP's name.
S. Coast Hwy - 1700 Block Grand Theft 4:58 p.m. The RP told police that she had used a valet service on both Friday and Sunday while patronizing a restaurant. When she went to the bank today, she discovered that a deposit totaling $8000 was missing from the trunk of her car.
Arroyo Drive - 1600 Block Burglary, residential 7:03 p.m. A resident discovered that medications were missing.
Thursday - June 5 Forest Avenue - 200 Block Burglary, commercial 3:54 a.m. An alarm company called police reporting that the sound of breaking glass had emanated from a pharmacy. The suspect(s) had managed to grab bottles of perfume and cologne and get away before officersarrived on scene and finding a window smashed.
Aster Street - 400 Block Petty Theft 7:29 a.m. An iPod and other items were stolen from an unlocked Honda overnight. Another RP called police when it was noticed that someone had tampered with a car without making a successful entry a block away.
Temple Terrace - 1000 Block Vandalism 10:09 a.m. The door to St. Catherine's church was damaged.
Glenneyre Parking Lot Drugs 7:25 p.m. During a traffic stop for excessive speed, an officersaw nervous actions from the driver and became suspicious. Officers, with the aid of a K-9 unit from Irvine, conducted a search of the vehicle. The search resulted in what police termed as cocaine packaged in a numerous individual bindles. Police have not released the identity of the 31-year-old suspect because the case is still being investigated. He was charged with felony possession of cocaine for sales and transportation for sales.
Friday - June 6 Heisler Park Warrant Arrest 7:15 a.m. Alan Jackson, 53, no fixed address, was arrested for an outstanding Huntington Beach warrant with bail of $2500.
Heisler Park Public Intoxication 2:41 p.m. Gualterio Montes de Oca, 36, no fixed address, was taken into custody for public intoxication.
Saturday - June 7 Glenneyre - 300 Block Public Intoxication 12:26 p.m. Chastain Carson, 35, no fixed address, was arrested for public intoxication.
N. Coast Hwy - 300 Block Fraud 1:29 p.m. The owner of a gallery purchased three antique pots from a man with whom he had previously done business. He paid $400 per item. While doing research online the following day, the gallery owner learned that the pots had been stolen from a dealer in Arizona. Police are investigating.
Cajon Street - 200 Block Vandalism, vehicle 3 p.m. Police were provided with the name of a possible suspect suspected of keying the RP's vehicle.
Montage Resort & Spa Grand Theft 6:24 p.m. An iPhone was stolen from an employee's locker.
S. Coast Hwy - 1300 Block Public Intoxication 8:54 p.m. Laguna Beach resident Evangelista Sagnelli, 57, was taken into custody for public intoxication.
Sunday - June 8 Dolphin Way - 200 Block Parole Violation Warrant 12:32 a.m. Police responded when a resident called about a man in a sleeping bag under the outside deck. David Cohen, 55, no fixed address, was awakened and removed. He was held without bail on a Dept. of Corrections warrant for parole violation.
Thalia Street - 200 Block Warrant Arrest 2:42 p.m. Wants and warrants checked during a traffic stop led to the arrest of Lake Forest resident Kelly June Mathews, 43, for a no bail drug-related warrant from LAPD.
Aliso Creek Inn Petty Theft 5:04 p.m. A woman reported that her purse was taken from her unlocked car.
White House Battery 11:50 p.m. Officersresponded to the White House when a woman called reporting that she had been thrown down onto the dance floor by another woman. Police assisted the RP with a citizen's arrest of Donna Chepelyuk, 29, of Irvine, for battery.
Laguna Canyon Road & El Toro Road Hit and Run 11:51 p.m. One driver involved in a hit and run crash told police that a man and a woman had fledthe scene on foot. Officersfound the pair on El Toro Road some 300 yards from the scene. They denied driving the other vehicle stating that the driver, whom they didn't know, had run away after the non-injury crash. When the other party was unable to positively identify either as the driver, they were released. Police towed the other car and said that the investigation continues.
Monday - June 9 Police Station Warrant Arrest 11:44 a.m. Edvin Betgovargez, 19, was arrested on a Central Court warrant with charges of maliciously taking a wireless device from another person to prevent a call for police assistance and disturbing the peace.
S. Coast Hwy - 1000 Block Fraud; Grand Theft 2:31 p.m. - A business discovered that numerous checks totaling more than $12,500 had been written and cashed on its account. The RP had no knowledge of any of the parties the checks to whom the checks were payable. It is believed that someone handmade the checks including the bank routing information and the account number using a computer. Police continue to investigate.
Seaview Street - 31800 Block Stolen Property 6:59 p.m. A man walking his dog came across a plastic bag with "numerous" credit cards inside in a grassy area. Police responded and took the bag. All of the cards had been stolen in various areas.
Tuesday - June 10 N. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Public Intoxication 11:47 a.m. Jennifer Sullivan, 23, Laguna Hills, was arrested for public intoxication.
S. Coast Hwy - 1400 Block Grand Theft 1:59 p.m. An outside table valued at $1000 was stolen overnight.
Broadway - 200 Block Petty Theft 4:12 p.m. A wallet was taken from an unlocked car.
Coast Hwy & Broadway Warrant Arrest 5:18 p.m. Emanuel Cruz Hernandez, 28, San Juan Capistrano, was arrested during a traffic stop for a Harbor Court Laguna Hills traffic warrant. He was also freshly charged of driving without a valid license.
Wednesday - June 11 Forest Avenue & Glenneyre Public Intoxication; Resisting 1:29 a.m. When an officerattempted to make contact with Oregon resident John Duffy Stotsenberg, 23, he allegedly became very combative and had to be subdued with a taser. He was arrested for public intoxication and resisting/obstructing/delaying an officer.
West Street & Monterey Street Warrant arrest 9:32 a.m. David Lefevre Moreno, 45, Lake Forest, was arrested on an OC warrant with a charge of DUI.
S. Coast Hwy & Thalia Street Traffic Arrest + 3:35 p.m. A traffic stop resulted in Dana Point resident Eulogio Nepomuceno Avelino, 29, for providing police with the name of another person and driving on a revoked license. Avelino was also held on a Harbor Court warrant for DUI and revoked license.
Thursday - June 12 Ocean View Street - 31400 Block Fraud; ID Theft 8:53 a.m. The RP's ATM was accessed in several cities.
Police Station Warrant Arrest 12:33 p.m. Charles Neil, 43, no fixed address, was taken into custody on a warrant for misdemeanor marijuana possession.
High Drive - 600 Block Fraud; ID Theft 4:50 p.m. Remember the old adage: you have to pay the price for feeling nice? A $2600 Las Vegas fling probably felt nice but the price was charged by an unknown suspect on the RP's debit card.
Friday - June 13 Park Avenue - 300 Block Public Intoxication 1:09 a.m. Ronald McHenry, 57, Laguna Beach, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
S. Coast Hwy - & Thalia Street Felony Vandalism 1:13 a.m. Police received a call from an eyewitness reporting that a male had kicked in the side of a Mercedes on the lot at Frank's Motorcars. Police detained Chase McKay Morgan, 22, Laguna Beach, and learned that he had also damaged a piece of art hanging in the 600 block of S. Coast Hwy when he suspended himself from same. Morgan was charged with felony malicious mischief with bail set at $20,000.
Catalina Street - 1200 Block Warrant Arrest 9:42 a.m. Herbert Lee Pullman, 50, no fixed address, was arrested for an outstanding San Bernardino warrant for obstructing police.
Wesley Drive - 21500 Block Immigration Violation 1:08 p.m. A woman called police to report that a man had frightened her at Lang Park. She provided a description of the man who had jumped into a car and was driving away. A patrol unit was nearby and stopped Domingo Rojas Diaz, 37, Laguna Niguel, before he was out of the parking lot. Police issued a citation for driving on a suspended license and towed his car. When it was later learned that he was undocumented, he was turned over to I.C.E. officersfor immigration violation.
Police Station Fraud + 3:02 p.m. A man came to the police station to report that he had learned from his bank that he had been the victim of a scam. He said he had answered an ad on craigslist for "secret shoppers". The advertiser sent him money orders to cash and use to buy things that left a $2500 balance. He agreed to send them his money order for that balance upon receipt of their money orders. After depositing them at his bank, he complied with their directions. He began shopping until his bank notified him that the money orders heíd deposited were all counterfeit. Police said they are investigating and have determined that he suspects are somewhere in Missouri.
S. Coast Hwy - 1500 Block Drugs +++ 7:47 p.m. Officersin a patrol unit noticed that a man sitting on a bus bench appeared to acting in a manner associated with drug use. They made contact with a man identifying himself as Nicholas Ballard. After a short interview, he was taken into custody for being under the influence of drugs. A search turned up a glass meth pipe and methamphetamine, a felony. He was charged with the three crimes and taken to the city jail for booking. LiveScan returned a match of his prints at 4:06 a.m. under his real name, Nicholas Stayton, 29, Camarillo. He was wanted on a no bail Ventura warrant for probation violation and being under the influence of a controlled substance and three OC warrants - two for drug offenses (one without bail) and a third for traffic.
Saturday - June 14 Glenneyre & Ruby Street No Bail Warrant; Felony Battery 12:22 a.m. A cell caller informed police that a woman was in a physical altercation with a man. Tanya Sherry, 26, San Rafael, was held without bail on a Marin County warrant for probation violation. After investigating further, she was also charged with felony battery of a cohabitant after police deduced that she had thrown her car keys striking her boyfriend in the back of his head and also had struck him several times with her fists.
S. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Public Intoxication 5:22 a.m. A visitor from Ireland, Aidan Rafferty, 22, was taken into custody for public intoxication.
Pacific Avenue - 1300 Block Stolen Vehicle 7:25 a.m. A brand new Vespa 150 scooter was stolen overnight.
Allview Terrace - 500 Block Grand Theft 8:53 a.m. A purse was taken from an unlocked car within this gated community overnight.
Cedar Way - 200 Block Grand Theft 3:41 p.m. A power lawn edger and gardening tools were stolen while gardeners were taking a break.
Sunday - June 15 Main Beach Warrants 4:12 a.m. Gary Edward Grundy, 36, no fixed address, was taken into custody on four outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
Ocean Avenue - 400 Block Burglary, vehicle 10:51 a.m. A filled suitcase was taken out of a vehicle after the suspect smashed a window for entry.
Coast Hwy & Third Avenue Felony Warrant Arrest 11:35 a.m. Laguna Beach resident Ryan David Arnold, 27, was arrested on a Harbor Court warrant with a felony charge of drug possession and misdemeanor charges of being under the influence of drugs and possession of under an ounce of marijuana.
