Feds law re: lasers and aircraft is absurd

    Editor: I am a retired scientist who has worked with lasers since they were invented by a college classmate, Gordon Gould, in 1958. It is hilarious to read about the paranoia pilots have when a harmless laser beam is aimed in their direction. Even though it is harmless, the FAA had a law passed making it illegal to point any laser pointer at an aircraft. Full Story

Big developments need to include affordable housing

    Editor: I attended the City Council meeting of July 1 when the Housing and Human Services Committee's proposal on affordable housing was considered by our City Council and unanimously forwarded to the Planning Commission for consideration. Full Story
Cottages hiding in Laguna Canyon

    Editor: As one heads out of town on Laguna Canyon Road there are the three cottages neatly fenced in and trees are growing over it "hiding" another $200,000 mistake from taxpayers. Perhaps the cottages could be used for "affordable housing". Full Story
PD did well with traffic management

    Editor: Kudos to our Police Department for their outstanding planning and execution of traffic management over this past holiday weekend. Despite the nearly overwhelming volume of traffic (particularly following the fireworks on Friday night and both before and after the Festival of Arts preview on Saturday night), our police executed a traffic management plan.
