Incident Reports:

Monday - July 14 Wells Fargo Bank Felony Vandalism 10:53 a.m. An original metal sculpture depicting a horse, the "Industrial Mount" (see photo - right), installed by Laguna's Community Art Project (CAP) on loan from the Festival of Arts, was severely vandalized over the weekend. Police said the horse's head of David Brunetta's sculpture had been pulled or pushed from its mount located on the inland side of the bank onto the asphalt in the parking lot. It appears that someone may have used a saw to cut. The Festival of Arts has the sculpture with the hope that the artist will be able to repair the artwork.

Three Arch Bay (Bay Drive) Fraud 11:58 a.m. The RP provided police with the name of a possible suspect who used a credit card to charge $1000.

Temple Hills Drive - 1700 Block Mail Tampering 1:23 p.m. Several pieces of mail were opened.

Ocean & Forest Avenue Petty Theft 3:11 p.m. A checkbook and credit card were taken from an unlocked car.

Several Retail Locations Counterfeit 5:06 p.m. Since July 4, several retailers discovered that bogus $100 bills had been passed. After police had taken new reports earlier in the day, the Mobil station downtown called police reporting that a man had tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill. The clerk realized it was phony money and held onto the bill as the suspect fled. The clerk also said two men had fled northbound on Coast Hwy in a silver Mustang with no plates. A Laguna patrol unit got behind the Mustang at Reef Point and followed it into Corona del Mar until enough Newport PD units arrived so that a felony car stop could be made at PCH and Dahlia. Officers found receipts from several retailers, all of which were victimized by the two men. Christian Martinez, 20, San Ysidro, and Josue Alejandre Gonzalez, 19 of San Diego were both held on charges of passing counterfeit bills, commercial burglary and conspiracy. Laguna cops informed the US Secret Service and agents interviewed the suspects here and are joining the investigation.

Catalina Street - 2100 Block Grand Theft 5:39 p.m. A kayak was stolen from under the RP's house.

Marilyn Drive - 30800 Block Neighbor vs. Neighbor 7:09 p.m. A resident reported that a dispute with a neighbor had escalated to a point where the neighbor sprayed her with a hose.

Main Beach Public Intoxication 9:38 p.m. Michael Todd White, 43, no fixed address, was arrested for public intoxication when cops responded to a disturbance call. Dolphin Way - 200 Block Petty Theft 11:15 p.m. A folding bicycle was stolen.

Tuesday - July 15 Albertsons Center Felony Warrants 1:33 a.m. Officers encountered Eric Christopher May, 36, Laguna Beach, and learned that he was wanted for two outstanding felony drug possession warrants. Both were no bail warrants - one from OC and the other out of Santa Barbara.

Ocean Way & Diamond Street Felony Vandalism 8:45 a.m. When the RP discovered white paint had been poured over his Chevy truck overnight, police were provide with the name of a suspect.

Bank of America Fraud; Forgery; Burglary, commercial 2:27 p.m. Shortly after a young woman asked a bank teller to cash a $17,000 check made out to her, the bank learned the check was fraudulent. The teller managed to keep the woman at the counter while police responded and detained San Diego resident Dominquia Shawneque Moore, 18. She told cops that she had been picked up by two guys in Aliso Viejo who drove her to Laguna after telling her they needed someone to cash a check for them (no other details were released). The check was made out to her and she said they had been promised her cash for her efforts. Timing, as they say, is everything. A man in Aliso Viejo learned from his BofA branch that an account had been opened in his name. After he made a report with the OC Sheriff's Dept., he called his branch to provide the case number. During that call, the Laguna branch was inquiring about the $17,000 check. The victim assured them that he hadn't written such a check. Moore was arrested for felony commercial burglary and other charges may follow. The two men were long gone probably because they saw the cops go inside.

Wednesday - July 16 S. Coast Hwy - 700 Block Felony Vandalism 11:23 a.m. Four storefront windows and a glass door were etched with a key causing damage of approximately $5000.

S. Coast Hwy - 1000 Block Battery 12:25 p.m. An 11-year-old boy told police that someone had come from behind and grabbed him by his hair as he sat on a bus bench. He said he had been pulled off the bench and thrown into a door. The boy wasn't injured and said he didn't know the suspect.

Thursday - July 17 Main Beach Warrant Arrest 7:43 a.m. Cynthia Carol Stoner, 29, no fixed address, was taken into custody for a Harbor Court traffic warrant.

Post Office - Downtown Counterfeit 3:10 p.m. Police responded to the post office when a clerk reported that someone had brought in a counterfeit money order. Police said a couple from out of town had been told by their bank that three US Postal money orders (each for $935) they'd received were counterfeit. While walking downtown, they saw the post office and decided to ask the clerk. No charges were made since they did not attempt to pass the money orders.

Glenneyre - 300 Block Possession of Stolen Property 3:31 p.m. Detectives arrested Ryan Robert Matsunaga, 25, of Mission Viejo for being in possession of property (a felony) taken from Emporio Optic during a July 11 burglary on Forest Avenue. Police said the case remains to be under investigation.

Tablerock Beach Warrant Arrest 4:49 p.m. Georgina Jane Smith, 20, of Trabuco Canyon, was arrested on a warrant for FTA possession of under an ounce of marijuana from Harbor Court Laguna Hills.

Friday - July 18 S. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Disturbing the Peace 1:15 p.m. Matthew Lang, 43, no fixed address, was arrested for disturbing the peace. Police were called by a retailer that Lang was sitting on the sidewalk while beating on a drum and a trashcan. He wouldn't stop when asked by the retailer or police and went to jail.

Broadway Bus Depot Public Intoxication 8:38 p.m. Curtis Abbott, 44, no fixed address, was arrested for public intoxication at the bus depot.

Saturday - July 19 Nyes Place - 200 Block Broken Water Line 2:01 a.m. A broken water line was discovered soon enough by police to avoid any major flooding damage. Laguna Beach Water Company shut down the line to make repairs and offered to provide bottled water to any customer in the relatively small area affected. Nyes was closed until repairs were finished at noon.

Lookout Drive - 300 Block Vandalism 9:29 a.m. A retaining wall was damaged overnight.

San Joaquin Street - 200 Block Mail Theft 9:48 a.m. The RP was contacted by the OC Sheriff's Dept and informed that a suspect in their custody had been in possession of a check she'd written for a car payment.

Monterey Street - 31300 Block Burglary, residential 1:36 p.m. A resident returned home and discovered a ladder leading to the roof and saw broken roof tiles on the ground. The person(s) who left the ladder had made access to the home through an upstairs door, which was left open,

Catalina Street & Mountain Road Vandalism, vehicle 4:38 p.m. An unknown substance was poured onto the RP's car.

S. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Auto Theft 6:29 p.m. The owner of a grey 2007 Infiniti G35 left his car parked on Coast Hwy and took a taxicab home after imbibing too much on Friday night. When he returned to get the car, it wasn't there. After an area search was fruitless, police deemed the car to be stolen.

Sunday - July 20 S. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Resisting 8:49 a.m. Cynthia Stoner, 29, no fixed address, refused to comply with an officer's request and became physically uncooperative. She was arrested for resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer.

N. Coast Hwy - 600 Block Burglary, commercial 9:51 a.m. Picayo Restaurant discovered that someone had made entry through the back door overnight.

S. Coast Hwy - 1400 Block Warrant arrest 10:45 a.m. A disturbance call led to the arrest of San Diego resident Jane C. Andersen, 62, for a traffic warrant.

Virginia Way - 32000 Block Vandalism 12:44 p.m. Someone using a screwdriver removed the paneling inside a carport.

N. Coast Hwy & Wave Street Urinating in Public 1:10 p.m. A passing officer saw Curtis Abbott, 63, no fixed address, relieving himself in a parking lot. He was arrested.

S. Coast Hwy - 600 Block Petty Theft 3:04 p.m. A cell phone was stolen.

N. Coast Hwy - 1300 Block Juvenile Arrests 4:22 p.m. A patrol officer entered Stop 'N Go as a group of five teenagers were leaving the store. Once inside, an employee told the officer that one of the boys had tried to buy beer with a fake ID. The officer detained the group and two 14-year-old boys, one from Laguna Beach and the other from Newport Beach, were issued citations for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Cliff Drive - 900 Block Burglary, residential 7:37 p.m. Someone entered a residence overnight and took two laptops. The resident told police the doors were left unlocked.

S. Coast Hwy - 1500 Block Public Intoxication 7:59 p.m. Mark Allan King, 30, was taken into custody for 647F.

Cliff Drive - 200 Block Public Intoxication 9:10 p.m. San Clemente resident Donald Jay Saunders, 37, was arrested for public intoxication.
