Walking with mastodons?
Editor: With due respect. Mr. Hano wrote [Changing - or not - 8/8], "…used to walk downtown, bare foot, and return with the soles of his bare feet still clean" I too walked downtown, bare feet, 33 years ago and my feet were black, covered in road grime. Full Story

Third & Mermaid…
Ed. Note: This letter was sent to Mayor Egly and the City Council As you know the city is rebuilding the northwest corner of 3rd Street at Mermaid next to the new Community - Senior Center. Please consider making this intersection as safe as possible for cars and people: youth, seniors, shoppers, and everyone, on foot. Full Story
…Third & Forest
Editor: Mike Hoag has an excellent and proactive idea. There are a lot of kids and residents who use the stairs from Park along Third Street to get to downtown via Mermaid (and vice versa). I see people crossing at the bottom of Third at Mermaid all the time, and it is just too dangerous given the speed and amount of traffic for that route. Full Story
Flammable flora

Our trash
Editor: As I was walking down the steps onto Woods Cove the other evening my eyes were drawn to a family on the beach. "Dad" had some sort of lettering about 8 inches tall tattooed all over his back. A well-fed "Mom" sat surrounded by a number of children in a litter of trash. Full Story
