Monday - August 4

Mountain Road - 400 Block Vandalism, vehicle 9:08 a.m. The rear window of a car was smashed overnight.

S. Coast Hwy - 1500 Block Vandalism, vehicle 10:45 a.m. A Porsche parked inside a garage was egged overnight.

Mar Vista Way - 1400 Block Drugs; Child Endangerment + 1:10 p.m. Detectives went to a residence to serve Harbor Court warrants for possession of drug paraphernalia and take Melissa Ann Bamberg, into custody. Bamberg, 23, was at home along with her 4-year-old daughter. Police said new and used syringes were found - one containing liquid heroin - in Bamberg's possession. She was charged with two felonies: possession of heroin and child endangerment. The latter charge had bail of $100,000. Police released the child to her grandparents.

N. Coast Hwy & Myrtle Street Warrant Arrest + 9:59 p.m. Wants and warrants checked during a traffic stop led to the arrest of Newport Beach resident David Baldoni, 44, for an outstanding Harbor Court DUI warrant. He was also charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Tuesday - August 5

Camel Point Drive Vandalism, vehicle 8:48 a.m. A car was keyed overnight.

Myrtle Street - 300 Block Juveniles 1:33 p.m. LBPD was contacted by police in Sandy, Utah asking for assistance in locating a missing 16-year-old girl who was wanted on a fugitive warrant for fleeing that state while facing criminal charges. Laguna officers went to a house on Myrtle Street where Utah authorities believed she was staying. Police said the girl was eventually found at that home despite an attempt to hide her by a 17-year-old boy who lived there. Police said the boy had been uncooperative and that he was arrested for delaying/ obstructing a police officer. The girl was taken to juvenile hall to await extradition to Utah. The boy was released to a neighbor per parental direction.

Agate Street - 400 Block Fraud; ID Theft 3:58 p.m. Bank of America notified the RP that a suspect in Illinois had used his ID and personal information,

S. Coast Hwy - 1200 Block Defrauding an Innkeeper 7:12 p.m. A restaurant reported that a couple had fled without paying for a $350 bar tab. Police said the restaurant had been provided a credit card for the tab but somehow, the couple managed to "pull a fast one", retrieve the card and leave.

Wednesday - August 6

Forest Avenue - 200 Block Warrant Arrest 3 p.m. Police said a jeweler called about a suspicious female that had been trying to sell expensive diamond earrings to more than one downtown jewelry store. The RP called after an employee had seen the woman enter still another store. Officers responded and made contact with the woman. While police were verifying that the earrings were in fact hers, they learned that she was wanted on an unspecified Business & Professions Code warrant from South Court. She was taken into custody and a subsequent search turned up a small amount of pot. She was issued a citation for possession of under an ounce of marijuana.

Thursday - August 7

Ralphs Market Shoplifting 2:08 a.m. Police made a car stop at South Coast Hwy and Diamond Street of a "champagne-colored Mercedes with Fletcher Jones paper plates" that had been reported to be involved in a theft from Ralphs Market. A store employee had reported that a male had grabbed a bottle of vodka and left in the Mercedes that was occupied by another male who was driving and a female in the backseat. The employee made a field ID and police arrested Laguna Hills resident Torryn Chad Zweigle, 22, for petty theft. Liquor sales stop after 1:59 a.m. under state law.

Park Avenue - 200 Block Grand Theft 12:46 p.m. A canvas bag containing cash and other items was stolen as the RP ate lunch.

Friday - August 8

N. Coast Hwy - 1300 Block Juveniles 12:22 a.m. An officer made contact with the occupants of a car that another motorist had called about after locating it in the Stop 'N Go parking lot. Four males, one from Emerald Bay and three from Rancho Santa Margarita, were issued citations. Three tickets were for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and the fourth was for curfew violation. All were released to parents.

Mountain Road - 100 Block Warrant Arrest 3:18 a.m. Chad Phillip Capriotti, 19, of Murrieta, was arrested for a pair of warrants - one for petty theft and the other for felony grand theft with $25,000 bail.

Diamond Street - 200 Block Drugs 3:18 a.m. Chad Phillip Capriotti, 19, of Murrieta, was arrested for a pair of warrants - one for petty theft and the other for felony grand theft with $25,000 bail.

N. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Defrauding an Innkeeper; Drugs 1:31 p.m. A cab driver complained that a female was trying to skip out on paying her fare and asked for police assistance. After making contact, Liane Rose Prince, 37, of Arizona, was arrested for defrauding an innkeeper and possession of prescription drugs without a prescription.

Tablerock Beach Petty Theft 3:31 p.m. A beach bag with a cell phone, car keys and a wallet containing credit cards were stolen off the beach while the victim went for a dip.

Heisler Park Public Intoxication 9:13 p.m. Mark Phillip Sipprelle, 45, no fixed address, was arrested for public intoxication.

Saturday - August 9

Coast Hwy - 30600 Block Public Intoxication 1:28 a.m. Mission Viejo resident Mark Thomas Irwin, 20, was arrested for public intoxication.

Main Beach Drugs ++ 1:25 p.m. Officers responded to Main Beach to break up an altercation between and male and a female. The male, Richard Alan Mayer, 39, no fixed address, became uncooperative and tried to break free as an officer detained him. He was eventually charged with resisting/obstructing/delaying and officer and 647F. As that incident was being handled, officers saw Chastain Carson, 35, no fixed address, and knew there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest with charges of FTA 647F. A subsequent search led to a new charge of felony possession of a controlled subject.

S. Coast Hwy & Diamond Street Drugs; Visa Violation 9:36 p.m. A routine traffic stop resulted in two men from Israel facing felony drug charges and a hold by Immigration and Custom Enforcement agents. As an officer interviewed Kfir Damari, 27, and David Lankari, 32, both with San Fernando Valley addresses, suspicions of drug involvement allegedly became apparent. A search of the men and the vehicle turned up cocaine, hashish methamphetamine. Both were arrested for three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance. When it was later determined that both had overstayed their visas, ICE placed a hold on them.

Sunday - August 10

S. Coast Hwy - 2000 Block Grand Theft 12:41 a.m. A couple staying at a motel engaged the services of a babysitting service allowing them to enjoy an evening of Laguna entertainment including the Pageant of the Masters. As they steeled in for the night, they realized a bag containing jewelry valued at $12,000 was missing. They contacted the service, which had the babysitter return. She claimed no knowledge of the missing bag and detectives are investigating the theft.

Lower Cliff Dr - 200 Bl Burglary, residential; Vehicle Theft 10:30 a.m. A man reported that someone had come into his apartment overnight leaving with various items including the keys to his 2005 GMC Canyon pickup. The victim speculated that the cat burglar had been able to match the keys with his red pickup, which had been parked in the next block.

Shaw's Cove Beach Ecological Enforcement 1:14 p.m. An unidentified diver received a citation for a violation the Fish and Game Code, i.e., illegal taking of a fish. A lifeguard called for animal services to investigate after the guard had seen the man remove a spear from a fish and throw the fish back into the ocean. As an animal services officer spoke to the diver, another beachgoer came up holding a 25-inch Leopard Shark that had obviously been speared in its head. It is illegal to take a Leopard Shark measuring less than 36 inches. Police said the diver demonstrated remorse and said he was unfamiliar with the law.

S. Coast Hwy & Calliope Street Warrant Arrest 2:48 p.m. During a traffic stop, Zachary James Dugan, 23, Long Beach, was arrested for a warrant with charges of FTA, minor in possession of alcohol with $750 bail.
