Monday - August 11

Cliff Drive & Circle Way Curfew Violation 2:01 a.m. A noise complaint resulted in a 17-year-old Laguna Beach male detained and cited for curfew violation and possession of tobacco.

Forest Lane - 200 Block Warrant Arrest 11:47 a.m. Charles Anthony Neil, 44, no fixed address, was taken into custody for Harbor Court warrant with a charge of disorderly conduct. This was the first of four arrests for Mr. Neil - alcohol charges on Friday and Saturday and he was charged with littering and blocking the sidewalk Sunday evening.

Forest Avenue - 200 Block Shoplifting; Burglary, commercial 2:46 p.m. A juvenile male allegedly left Hobie Sports with three T-shirts valued at $60. Police looked without success for the suspect described as having a thin build, a lip ring, wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and a baseball cap backwards. At about the same time on Friday afternoon, an employee called police reporting that the suspect had returned. The suspect left but officers were able to detain him at Coast Hwy & Legion St. After an interview, he was charged with felony commercial burglary and released him to a parent at the police station.

Pavilions Parking Lot Drug Arrests 4:14 p.m. Narcotics detectives arrested two north San Diego County men on drug charges involving OxyContin. Ryan Lee Hilscher, 22, Encinitas, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Solana Beach resident Justin Michael Greene, 24, was held on the same charge plus possession for sales and a misdemeanor, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tuesday - August 12

N. Coast Hwy & Emerald Bay Warrant Arrest 8:16 a.m. Curtis Abbott, 43, no fixed address, was arrested on a Harbor Court warrant for public intoxication.

Nyes Place-400 Bl & Santa Ana St-800 Bl Burglary, vehicles 8:38 a.m. A purse and a wallet were stolen out of a car overnight. The RP also found another person's ID and credit cards strewn about in the backyard. Police determined that the latter had been taken from a vehicle in the 800 block of Santa Ana St.

Main Beach Warrant Arrest 11:20 a.m. Todd Williams, 48, Yorba Linda, was arrested on a warrant for state administrative code violations.

Wave Street - 200 Block Annoying Calls 11:24 a.m. The RP has been receiving harassing phone calls from a named suspect.

Aliso Beach Animal Cruelty 5:20 p.m. A patrol unit came across a vehicle with two dogs inside and the windows only "barely cracked" for their ventilation. After making a forced entry, the dogs were taken to the animal shelter. Police said a non-moving citation was issued to the vehicle that was registered in Yorba Linda.

Mountain Street Beach Taking a Lobster out of Season 5:34 p.m. A lifeguard allegedly observed Laguna Beach resident Curt Crandall, 35, with two speared lobsters. He was issued a citation for possession of a lobster out of season.

Wednesday - August 13

Cress Street - 700 Block Trespassing 2:33 a.m. A boy, 17, and a girl, 14, decided the home of a friend of the boy would make a perfect place to be alone since his friend's entire family was on vacation. As they tried to open a balcony door, the sound of a woman yelling at them from inside came as such a shock that the pair took off. Police responded to the 9-1-1 call made by the house sitter quickly enough to locate the teens up the street within a matter of minutes. The juveniles were taken to the police station and later released to their parents.

Ramona Avenue - 600 Block Warrants 12:53 p.m. Scott Timothy Fair, 46, of Dana Point, was arrested on two Harbor Court warrants - each for DUI - one also had a charge of hit and run.

S. Coast Hwy - 400 Block Public Intoxication 6:40 p.m. David Jeffrey Stovall, 38, no fixed address, was arrested for public intoxication. He was arrested for the same offense a second time on Thursday a block further south.

Mermaid Street - 300 Block Warrant Arrest 7:08 p.m. Bryant Jerel Hickcox, 21, Laguna Beach, was arrested during a traffic stop on a Harbor Court Laguna Hills warrant for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana with bail of $2500.

Thursday - August 14

S. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Public Intoxication 1:32 a.m. Mark John Lane, 51, no fixed address, was arrested for public intoxication.

Ocean Way & Pearl Street Warrant Arrest 9:31 a.m. Police arrested Santa Ana resident Adele Delaney, 75, for an outstanding Central Court warrant for FTA - false representation to a police officer. Bail was set at $10,000.

S. Coast Hwy - 1100 Block Vandalism 12:04 p.m. A shop owner reported that ceramic planters had been smashed overnight.

Anita Street - 200 Block Under the influence; Parole Hold 1:47 p.m. A man flagged down a patrol unit and told them he was concerned because people were following him. Officers checked the area but found no one. The man's behavior was allegedly indicative of drug use. A drug recognition expert determined Sydney Nicoli Matthew McCollum, 24, Irvine, was under the influence of methamphetamine and he was arrested. It was also learned that he was on active parole. Standard protocol requires police notification to parole officers when a parolee is contacted for any reason. McCollum's parole was revoked and he was held without bail for that offense.

Tablerock Beach Grand Theft 4:02 p.m. A U.S. Ocean Safety lifeguard left his tower to warn a group about the dangers of being on the rocks. While doing so, a juvenile male went to the tower and ran off with the lifeguard's portable radio set valued at $4000. As the lifeguard headed back to the tower, a witness informed him of the theft. The suspect had run off with five other juvenile males and a female. Police responded but weren't able to locate the suspect. The radio is still missing.

Broadway - 200 Block Warrant Arrests 6:33 p.m. Police responded to a report of a disturbance and made contact with two men, both of whom had outstanding warrants. Jorge Daniel Paduro, 44, Laguna Beach, was taken into custody on a $25,000 Harbor Court warrant with charges of battery and battery against a cohabitant. San Juan Capistrano resident Jorge Ayala Lopez, 27, was arrested for a South Court DUI warrant with $10,000 bail.

N. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Warrant Arrest 7:36 p.m. San Clemente resident Daniel Edward Jones, 47, was arrested on a Harbor Court warrant for FTA - assault.

S. Coast Hwy & Victoria Drive Auto Theft 8:45 p.m. The owner of a Mini Cooper reported it stolen and told police he had parked it around 7 p.m. An officer beginning her shift early Friday morning received a LoJack "hit" when she got into her patrol unit. She attempted to track the hit but it quickly weakened as it left the area. The vehicle had been broadcast as a stolen when first reported and another countywide broadcast was made after the LoJack hit here. At 6:29, a Buena Park reported a hit on the Mini Cooper and made a felony car stop on I-5. A Texas man, David Patrick Rider, 43, was arrested there. The victim didn't know the suspect and police believe it was a random theft.

Friday - August 15

Juanita Way - 2500 Block Burglary, residential 6:39 a.m. Jewelry valued at $30,000 was taken from a home. Police released no other details.

Center Street - 500 Block Credit Card Fraud; Grand Theft 8:06 a.m. A woman here learned that she had been the victim of an online scam when police knocked on her door. A woman from Massachusetts had called Laguna police to report that several items amounting to $1500 had been fraudulently charged to her credit card in a short period of time. She added that the items had been shipped to Laguna Beach. The resident here, who was then considered as a possible suspect, told the cops that she had met a man online who said he was working in Ghana. While pertinent details were withheld, police said the woman here quickly went from suspect to victim. She said that she had been receiving items and sending them to another location on the east coast for ìmonthsî. She had also said she had ìinvestedî her own cash with the man for a business venture. Police said they believe this incident is connected with several such scams where victims receive email solicitations from Nigeria and Ghana.

Cozumel - 100 Block Fraud; ID Theft 9:48 a.m. To open a phone account out of state, an unknown person used the RP's personal information.

Terry Road - 2800 Block Fraud 12:41 p.m. An unknown person managed to have Cox cable remove the RP's caller ID and add remote call forwarding.

Diamond Street - 800 Block Credit Card Fraud 1:36 p.m. The RP's credit card was used fraudulently.

S. Coast Hwy - 1300 Block Public Intoxication 2:29 p.m. Rancho Santa Margarita resident Sergio M. Verdugo, Jr., 33, was arrested for public intoxication.

Pavilions Market Shoplifting 5:07 p.m. Store personnel managed to detain a 17-year-old boy from Lake Forest before he could leave the store with $30 worth of beer hidden in his backpack. He was taken to the police station where a parent picked him up later in the evening.

Park Avenue - 200 Block Petty Theft 9:45 p.m. A man reported that his pocket had been picked.

Saturday - August 16

S. Coast Hwy - 1400 Block Grand Theft 12:24 p.m. A guest the RP had met the previous evening left with $1000 in cash belonging to his host.

Sunday - August 17

Ocean Avenue - 200 Block Grand Theft 9:56 a.m. Someone broke into two storage sheds used by the parking lot attendant on the Wells Fargo rear parking lot. One of the sheds was missing $1500 in cash.

West St-31500 Bl - Coast Hwy-31700 Bl Burglary, vehicles 5:54 p.m. A passenger window was smashed by a suspect who reached in and made off with a wallet, an iPod and a GPS device. A window was also smashed in another vehicle nearby on Coast Hwy where a purse was taken.
