Saved from the moral depravity of skin art
Editor: Well, the Laguna Beach City Council has done it again. After recently protecting us from the environmental scourge of ocean kayaking at Treasure Island, they did not rest on their laurels. Not at all! Full Story
Tattered, torn and…A memory of Russell Reeves
Editor: I sat on the bench overlooking the ocean at the end of Ruby St. where I gazed upon our American flag, which was tattered, torn and faded high up on a flagpole. I couldn't help but to think that this particular flag I gazed upon unfortunately was analogous to our country at this point in time - tattered, torn and left to flap in the wind unmercifully alone. Neighbors prepare to fight Resource Center's plan
Editor: In response to last week's article about the proposed Laguna Resource Center (LRC) location at the Big Bend on Laguna Canyon Road, we the residents have our own opinions on what would otherwise be an admirable endeavor to help the homeless and low-income of Laguna. Instead it is a health and safety hazard for all. Full Story
Sit back and imagine…
Editor: It is good to let your whimsical side and imagination go wild. Bruce Hopping, a constant city council observer, imagined a sculpture for peace on the American Legion Hall's (senior center) lawn. Councilwomen Kinsman said no way. What does the American Legion stand for - war or peace?? Full Story
Still a battle to save Trestles and San O

Local politics and Palin's more qualified than Obama
Editor: Political games and letters… On the local level…we have three well-qualified candidates running for City Council. So no matter who wins, we all win. The only sad part is all the negative letters being orchestrated by the wellfinanced powerhouse Village Laguna Political Action Committee against Cheryl Kinsman. Full Story
A choice was made
Editor: I just want to respond to Susan Sandys' letter [A poor personal choice - 9/5] regarding the Republicans' vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. There are plenty of families out there in the political world with lots of dirty laundry in their closets. It just so happens that their laundry does not get aired so wildly on special cable networks. Full Story
Palin will send Dems to another defeat
to another defeat Editor: I've heard many Democrats, pundits and those in the media call Sarah Palin lots of unflattering names, but none quite so pathetically rude as "trailer-park-trash" (Letter to the Editor, by T.C. Borelli, September 5, 2008 issue). Full Story
Is there a possibility of a seconnd mistakenn prognnosticationn?
Editor: Many thanks for the crash course in Palintology from the blue ribbon panel of experts in the last issue. Democrats shouldn't panic. On October 2, in a make-orbreak debate, Joe Biden will reduce that proud headstrong hussy to weeping cringing submission. Full Story
Defining maverick
Editor: According to the American Heritage Dictionary a maverick is a lone dissenter, a politician, who takes an independent stand apart from his or her associates. Full Story
Things seem to have changed since 1960
Editor: After watching both the Democrat and Republican conventions recently, words spoken 48 years ago by a presidential candidate need to be read and understood by today's candidates. Full Story
