Monday - September 22
Coast Hwy & Laguna Avenue Public Intoxication 1:02 a.m. Michael Brian Diamond, 48, Carlsbad, was taken into custody for public intoxication.
Forest Avenue - 200 Block Shoplifting 10:03 a.m. A woman tried on a pair of pink sandals and walked out wearing them. Her old sandals were left in the store.
S. Coast Hwy - 1600 Block Auto Theft 10:25 a.m. A man came to the police station to report that his white Hyundai Elantra had been stolen. He explained that he'd left it where he'd parked it at 8:30 Sunday night. At 5:56 p.m., the RP learned that a friend had taken his car and moved it three blocks further away. Police took a recovered stolen report to remove the plate number, etc., from the national crime computer network.
S. Coast Hwy - 1300 Block Municipal Code Arrest 11:35 a.m. Dillon Bolton, 52, no fixed address, was arrested for violating the LB Municipal Code: drinking in public and urinating in public.
Bus Stop - SCMC Parole Violation; Public Intoxication 1:55 p.m. Hospital security contacted police about a man on a bus who had "soiled himself" and appeared to be unable to "function by himself." Police arrested Chad Robert White, 41, Buena Park, for public intoxication and received a no bail hold order for parole violation (his parole has a "no alcohol" edict).
Park Avenue & Catalina Street Grand Theft 3:47 p.m. A 10-speed Lance Armstrong type bicycle with red tires valued at $5000 was stolen after being unattended for only 10 minutes. The victim decided to look around for his stolen bike. At 4:32, he saw a male riding his bike near Main Beach. He managed to detain the 17-year-old until police arrived and arrested the boy for felony possession of stolen property. The owner rode away on his bicycle.
Tuesday - September 23
Glenneyre - 900 Block Credit Card Fraud 6:06 p.m. An unknown person used the RP's credit card via the Apple iTunes store.
Wednesday - September 24
Brooks Street - 300 Block Vandalism 4:41 a.m. The RP arrived home and found the front door open. A photo of the RP's daughter mounted on a refrigerator had been vandalized.
Glenneyre - 300 Block Grand Theft 11:28 a.m. An interior office door was jimmied to gain entrance. The suspect(s) took a laptop valued at $1300.
McKnight Drive - 100 Block Burglary, residential 2:03 p.m. A resident came home after a few hours away and saw a male "18 or 19" at the front door. Seeing the RP, the male, wearing a white shirt and dark jeans, took off on foot. The home had been ransacked but no losses were reported. The RP told police that the suspect might have been in the neighborhood earlier.
Manzanita Drive - 800 Block Petty Theft 5:44 p.m. A cell phone and charger were stolen out of an unlocked car at some point during the day.
S. Coast Hwy - 600 Block Petty Theft 6:13 p.m. A Surf & Sand Resort guest reported that $300 in cash was missing from his room.
Thursday - September 25
Forest Ave - 200 Bl Burglary; Possession of Stolen Property 12:12 p.m. A retailer reported that a woman with two little girls had taken merchandise. The store stopped her before she'd left and recovered the merchandise. Police were called after that and made contact with Tammy Jo Franklin, 36, Laguna Beach. Police said she had other merchandise with her that, it was determined, had not been paid for in other locations. One of the officers on scene had issued a citation to her previously for shoplifting - and had her two little girls with her then as well. She was arrested for possession of felony commercial burglary and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. The little girls were released to a guardian at the police station.
Vista Lane - 600 Block Grand Theft 1:30 p.m. The RP suspects that a caretaker of taking $10,000 in cash from inside a jewelry box in the back of a closet.
Cliff & Lower Cliff Drive Warrant Arrest 1:36 p.m. 46-year-old Cheryl Ann Fairclough, no fixed address, was arrested for a Harbor Court warrant for 647F.
S. Coast Hwy & Victoria Drive Burglary, vehicle 5:52 p.m. An unknown suspect broke into a Chevy Tahoe and failed in an attempt to punch the ignition. The RP's wallet was missing and the damage to the SUV was $1000.
Friday - September 26
Legion Street - 400 Block Warrant Arrest 11:29 a.m. Robert Anthony Seaton, 46, Newport Beach, was taken into custody on a Harbor Court warrant with charges of reckless driving and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
S. Coast Hwy - 200 Block Petty Theft 3:05 p.m. A retailer discovered that a $300 necklace had been taken Tuesday and provided police with suspect information.
N. Coast Hwy - 1200 Block Drug Arrest 4:53 p.m. A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Huntington Beach resident Frank James Edmondson, 50, for possession of drugs for sales and transportation of a controlled substance. Ecstasy, GHB, methamphetamine and marijuana were found in his car.
S. Coast Hwy - 500 Block Warrant Arrest 7:05 p.m. George Stefan Von Metzger, 53, Santa Ana, was taken into custody on a Harbor Court Laguna Hills traffic warrant.
Saturday - September 27
S. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Public Intoxication 9:57 a.m. Robert John Shaw, 49, no fixed address, was arrested for public intoxication.
3rd Avenue - 31600 Block Petty Theft 3:43 p.m. A ceramic planter was stolen from a driveway.
Heisler Park Warrant Arrest 3:55 p.m. Mark John Lane, 51, no fixed address, was arrested on bench warrant for open container and alcohol in public.
S. Coast Hwy - 1200 Block Grand Theft 5:51 p.m. A woman swiped a diamond ring valued at $1600 before leaving in a black SUV. The RP wasn't able to get the plate.
5th Avenue - 31700 Block Battery 10 p.m. Police responded to neighbors' complaints about a loud juvenile party and the homeowner's request for assistance with several juveniles who refused to leave the house. Officers were able to restore order and learned that a fight between two partiers required a battery report.
Sunday - September 28
Glenneyre & Mountain to Newport Beach Vehicle Pursuit 2:57 a.m. A person flagged down a police car to report a possible DUI driver in a silver Honda Accord. The vehicle information was broadcast to the other LBPD patrol units and one spotted the car at Mountain Rd and Glenneyre. When the officer lit the Honda up, it fled northbound hitting the curb on Coast Hwy at Mountain Rd and Cress St, popping both tires on the fight side. The Honda continued northbound on Coast Hwy amid a fountain of sparks that grew thicker as the rubber was destroyed. Speeds were between 30 and 50 MPH, according to police, until the pursuit came to a halt 14 minutes after it began on MacArthur Bl at San Joaquin near Newport Center. Matthew James Rogers, 24, Dana Point, was taken into custody for felony evasion and DUI. Rogers was also held on a Harbor Court felony warrant for burglary, second degree and forgery. He was also held without bail for parole violation. Police said the car, which belonged to his friend, might have been taken without the owner's permission. That part of the case is still under investigation.
