Monday - October 6
Aliso Beach Vandalism, vehicle
2:20 p.m. The owner of a red Toyota Tacoma pickup went to the
police station when he discovered that someone had keyed his
vehicle while parked at Aliso Beach.
Bluebird Canyon Drive & Glenneyre Warrant Arrest
9:05 p.m. A patrol officer ran the license plate of a moving
vehicle and learned that a warrant was associated with it and the
registered owner. A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Laguna Beach
man, Richard Hughes, 42, on a warrant for possession of drug
paraphernalia with bail of $10,000.
S. Coast Hwy - 800 Block Battery
10:43 p.m. Police responded to the Holiday Inn where the RP
was detaining a man who allegedly pushed him down a staircase.
Officers assisted the RP with a citizen's arrest of Mission Viejo
resident Jonathan West Huggins, 32, for battery.
Tuesday - October 7
Three Arch Bay (N. Encino) Grand Theft
9:03 a.m. The 18-year-old son of the homeowner was left in charge
of the residence while his parent was out of town. He had a party
and his guests took many items, including the son's wallet, and a
laptop. Police expect more losses with the RP's return.
Laguna Canyon Road - 2200 Block Burglary
9:07 a.m. A man from Hawaii who had previously been given
permission to sleep in a studio by its owners was told that he
couldn't stay there any longer. No longer having a key, the visitor
removed a skylight to enter but fell onto a kiln breaking it and
his collarbone. He called 9-1-1 on his cell and was taken to South
Coast ER for treatment. The owners made a police report.
Main Beach Felony Threats
11:06 a.m. Officers went to Main Beach to look into a report of
a man "threatening to burn and stab people" on the sidewalk.
Matthew Lang, 43, no fixed address, refused to respond to the
officers' instructions and was arrested for making threats of
physical harm (technically terrorist threats), a felony.
Glenneyre - 2500 Block Burglary, residential
9:28 p.m. A $10,000 painting was taken from a home up for sale
while the owner was out of town.
Wednesday - October 8
N. Coast Hwy & Boat Canyon Drive Stolen Car
3:55 a.m. Stolen vehicles are broadcast to all OC agencies over
the "Red Channel", a countywide alert that is a part of the radio
network in all police cars. At about 3 a.m. Costa Mesa broadcast a
stolen 1993 white Cadillac Deville. An hour later, a Laguna officer
saw the stolen car in front of him on Coast Hwy. A felony stop
was made and the two male occupants were detained. The driver,
Anthony Pantoya, 19, was turned over to Costa Mesa police and a
juvenile was taken to the LB police station for parental pickup.
Ocean Way - 2100 Block Petty Theft
9:07 a.m. A car cover was taken overnight.
Heisler Park Public Intoxication
10:05 a.m. Mark Lane, 51, no fixed address, was arrested for 647F.
Pavilions Market Counterfeit
10:43 a.m. Two bogus $100 bills were passed at Pavilions.
N. Coast Hwy & Beverly St Grand Theft; Vandalism, vehicle
12:05 p.m. A man discovered that someone had kicked his car's
door causing a dent and taken his iPhone from the unlocked
vehicle. The RP provided possible suspect information.
Broadway Bus Depot Public Intoxication
4:07 p.m. "Cowboy" Charles Conwell was arrested for 647F.
Santa Ana Street - 1000 Block Vandalism
7:24 p.m. The RP told police that he suspects that a neighbor had
removed an outside senor light.
S. Coast Hwy & St. Ann's Drive Battery
7:25 p.m. A man treated for a broken nose at South Coast ER told
police that a known suspect had punched him. Just before 11 p.m.,
Thomas James Bryant, 28, Anaheim, came to the police station.
After an interview, he was taken into custody for battery causing
bodily injury, a felony.
Cypress Drive - 200 Block Burglary, residential
7:28 p.m. While a resident was out front of her apartment with her
dog, an unknown person entered via the unlocked door and made
off with her purse with a wallet and cell phone inside.
Thursday - October 9
LBHS Drug Arrest
9:57 a.m. School administrators called police to assist the school's
security staff with a 17-year-old female student suspected of drug
activity. Subsequently, police found heroin, cocaine, marijuana,
syringes and a marijuana pipe. She was taken to the police station
facing numerous drug charges.
Dartmoor Street - 300 Block Burglary; Vehicle Theft
7:15 p.m. When checking the home of a friend who was out of
town, the RP saw that a Porsche Cayenne was missing from the
garage. Police responded Friday morning for a report and while
there, a woman drove up in the Cayenne. Police spoke with
the owner who said she was his estranged girlfriend and had
no permission to use the vehicle or to be in the home. Megan
Elizabeth McNerney, 20 of Ramona, was arrested for vehicle theft
and burglary.
Friday - October 10
Coast Hwy - 31700 Block Possession of Stolen Property
1:42 a.m. The owner of the 7-11 called police after he had seen two
men acting suspiciously. On scene, officers encountered two men
and found another person's wallet in the possession of Monarch
Beach resident Albert Anthony Conone, 18. He was arrested for
possession of stolen property when it was learned that the wallet
had been taken from a vehicle in Lake Forest.
Victory Walk - 1100 Block Parolee at Large
5:40 a.m. A Dept of Justice officer contacted Laguna police asking
that they look for Victor David Richmond, 49, who was wanted
on a no bail warrant for parole violation. Officers went to his
residence and took him into custody without incident.
S. Coast Hwy - 600 Block Public Intoxication
8:31 a.m. Ian Keegan, 47, Costa Mesa, was arrested for 647F.
Alta Vista Drive - 700 Block
12:01 p.m. Political signs were stolen from the front yard.
S. Coast Hwy - 400 Block Theft
1:40 p.m. When a woman picked up her purse that she'd placed
under a table earlier, it had been opened and a credit card was
missing. The suspect had used the card at another local spot in
town to pay a bill of $112.
Jasmine Street & Magnolia Drive Sexual Assault
3:39 p.m. A female juvenile went out with an adult male. They
went to his residence where the had sex according to the RP.
Detectives are investigating the incident.
S. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Burglary, vehicle
4:28 p.m. A briefcase was taken from a car in a parking lot.
Saturday - October 11
S. Coast Hwy & Ocean Avenue Carrying a Concealed Weapon
1:14 a.m. After door security escorted Brea resident Curtis Allen
Dale, Jr. outside for creating a disturbance inside, Dale allegedly
pulled a knife but made no direct threats. Police were called and
Dale was located a bloc away. In the bushes nearby, an officer
found Dale's knife and he was arrested for a carrying a concealed
weapon, a felony.
S. Coast Hwy & Forest Avenue Traffic Arrest +
2:25 p.m. A car stop was made in the downtown area after an
officer observed several traffic violations. Once stopped, the officer
saw unspecified drug paraphernalia. Ronald Sherman Caldwell, 34,
was arrested for speeding, following too close, unsafe lane change
and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Glenneyre - 1100 Block Petty Theft
2:58 p.m. A picture frame was taken.
El Moro Park Grand Theft
3:53 p.m. $1300 in cash was taken from a parked car. The RP was
unsure if it had been left locked or unlocked.
Sunday - October 12
S. Coast Hwy & Oak Street Public Intoxication
3:30 a.m. Laguna Hills resident Kristopher Paul Lockwood, 24,
was arrested for public intoxication.
Coast Hwy & 10th Avenue Warrant Arrest
9:54 a.m. Brandon Boone, 22, Mission Viejo, was taken into
custody for a Harbor Court Laguna Hills traffic warrant.
Diamond Street & Gainsborough Drive Juvenile Contact
10:04 a.m. Police received a call from a resident who said he had
observed a boy trying to break into a city-owner construction
trailer. Officers made contact with a 14-year-old from Costa Mesa
who said he'd been looking through the trailer's windows but had
not tried to get inside. He was taken into custody after police found
less than an ounce of marijuana in his possession. He was taken to
the police station and held for parental pickup.
Broadway - 300 Block Felony Warrant Arrest
2:44 p.m. A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Nestor Plata, 23, of
Long Beach for a pair of outstanding warrants. The first was a no
bail warrant for with felony charges of possession of cocaine base
for sales and transportation of cocaine base for sales.
Ruby Street Park Warrants
4:06 p.m. Anaheim resident Edward Castro, 22, was taken into
custody for two warrants: a North Court felony warrant with a
charge of burglary and a Central Court felony warrant with charges
of witness tampering, threats of great bodily harm and verbal
threats by telephone. He was booked and taken to county jail.
