Crosswalk perils
Editor: On October 20, 2008 a good friend was crossing Glenneyre at Thalia in the crosswalk and was struck from behind by an automobile. He suffered a broken leg and will be off his feet for several weeks. The driver said that he didn't see him even though my friend was two thirds across the street. My friend is legally blind and uses a white cane. Full Story
Disagreeing with Fugate over Palin
Editor: In her latest Indy column (10/31), Christine Fugate seems fixated on the feminist notion of "having it all" as it relates to Gov. Sarah Palin. Sounding like a jilted lover, Ms. Fugate offers-up her own lament of abandoned film career for family sacrifice. This as evidence that such human aspirations can't be pulledoff. Full Story

Editor: How much is your integrity worth? Evidently, Cheryl Kinsman's integrity is worth no more than seeking to gain an unfair advantage in an attempt to win her reelection campaign. During the last week of this year's campaign she has allowed lies and false accusations about her opponent to propagate. Full Story

Editor: In the Oct. 31 edition of The Indy, in Kelly's Korner [political advertisement], Mr. Boyd asserts that, "When Village Laguna was formed many years ago, they tried…to place Associations in…[several locations] and later in South Laguna." That statement is, in fact, erroneous. Full Story

Correction: With apologies to the writer, and due to an editor's error, the following is a corrected letter from 10/31: Editor: Poor Tom Osborne was not appointed to a city committee. There were 10 qualified applicants for three positions. The five council members voted for three applicants. Poor Tom only received one vote. Full Story
