No Bogeys at Liam's Tournament
More than 72 local residents helped Ron May, Jr., raise $200,000 playing in a golf tournament at the Aliso Creek Golf Course on Nov. 17, to honor his son Liam. Liam, who had Down's syndrome, died from leukemia a year ago at age three.
Proceeds will go towards the Laguna Beach Assistance League's early intervention program, which works with Down's syndrome children from birth to the age of one. This once a week program is a unique exposure for the children and families. They participate in therapy groups to enhance neuromuscular skills of the developmentally delayed children. Volunteers from the Assistance League care for the babies for an hour to give parents a chance to discuss strategies for coping with raising special needs children.
Liam and his family were fortunate recipients of this service.
