Collection Stands Trial by Jury

The winners of the U.S. Society of Pastel Artists juried exhibition were announced Nov. 15 at Laguna Beach's Esther Wells Collection gallery. The exhibition will run through Dec. 13 and all work is for sale.

Artist Robin Hall, a member of the California Art Club, juried the exhibition, at 1390 S. Coast Highway. Winners were selected in three around Laguna beach categories, still life, figurative and landscape Best in Show went to Mary Aslin for "How Do These Look?"

In the figurative category: First place: Kamilla Hardy, "Morning Market", second place: Mary Aslin, "Something Borrowed", third place: Mary Snow, News "Thinking of Matisse", Honorable Mentions: Marj Lightle, "Waiting," Joyce Rush, "Girl on Chair", Louise Lopina, "The Bear".

In the still life category: First place: Linda Wright, "Housescape"; second place: Lyndelle Stonick, "Vintage Flavor", third place: Ada Passaro, "Season's Bounty" , Honorable Mentions: Anne Scaffidi, "Copper Shine", Shahin Wolfe, "Soul of Sand", Arleen Kallern "Ode to Vincent".

In the landscape category: First place: beach Phil Bates, "Taos Aspens"", second place: Kamilla Hardy, "Old Town Morning", third place: Phil Bates, "California Morning", Honorable Mentions: Dori Dewberry, "Park Lane & 37th", Joann Quinlivan, "Montage Rock."

Over $3,000 in awards and prizes were given.
