Incident Reports:
Monday - November 17
S. Coast Hwy - 1400 Block Burglary, commercial - X 2 9:09 a.m. Windows were forced open at two businesses overnight. In both incidents, offices were ransacked but there were no losses that were immediately apparent. Police performed an extensive crime scene investigation at both locations.
Bluebird Canyon Drive - 1400 Block Credit Card Fraud 5:20 p.m. An unknown suspect used the RP's credit card.
N. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Resisting 7:20 p.m. The third time was not a charm for Jessica Jean Hewitt, 28. She had gone into the Mobil station the two previous evenings and left without paying for a cup of self-served coffee. An employee decided to call the cops this time. Police approached her at a nearby corner. She refused to follow their directions and had to be physically detained before being taken into custody for resisting /delaying/obstructing an officer.
S. Coast Hwy & Ocean Avenue Warrants 9:46 p.m. Wants and warrants checked during a traffic stop led to the arrest of Cudahy resident Craig Sean Carter, 44, for three South Court warrants - all with a charge of FTA - alcohol in public.
Tuesday - November 18
S. Coast Hwy - 3000 Block Verbal Threats 2:24 p.m. St. Catherine's School requested that police take a report after a 12-year male student yelled a threat to another student.
Mar Vista Way - 1400 Block Grand Theft 5:13 p.m. The RP provided police with the name of a possible suspect after discovering that an envelope containing $10,000 in cash was missing from a cabinet in the residence.
Ocean Avenue - 200 Block Public Intoxication 7:38 p.m. Mark John Lane, 51, no fixed address, was arrested for public intoxication.
Holiday Inn Public Intoxication 8:06 p.m. Officers went to the lobby after an employee asked for assistance in removing an intoxicated man. South Dakota resident Robert Charles Wilfong, 34, was arrested for public intoxication.
Wednesday - November 19
Alta Laguna Park Vandalism 6:44 a.m. The first base dugout was tagged with graffiti.
Coast Hwy & 10th Avenue Warrant Arrest 7:21 a.m. One driver (Francis Herrera, 29, Dana Point) involved in a traffic crash was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant.
Main Beach Warrant Arrest 10:14 a.m. An OC judge notified police that a warrant was being faxed for the immediate arrest of "Cowboy", Charles Reginald Conwell, 57, no fixed address. He was taken into custody and to OCJ on the FTA - public intoxication warrant with bail set at $25,000 by the judge.
Glenneyre - 1700 Block Fraud; ID Theft 10:24 a.m. A new credit account was opened in the RP's name using her personal information.
N. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Warrant Arrest 11:10 a.m. George Reasons, 57, no fixed address, was arrested for a Harbor Court warrant with a charge of loitering. Bail was set at $10,000. He was taken to county jail after booking.
N. Coast Hwy - 1300 Block Felony Warrant Arrests 6:28 p.m. Crossing Coast Highway against a flashing "red-handno crossing" signal led to the arrests of two people for felony burglary warrants out of Colorado. An officer contacted Clinton Michael Mechamer, 23, after crossing. He was arrested when wants and warrants were routinely checked. His girlfriend, Andrea Noele Blatz, 23, approached the officer when she saw Mechamer being handcuffed. She too was wanted for burglary in Colorado. Both were booked before being transported to county jail to await extradition to Colorado. Mechamer was also wanted on felony warrants out of Georgia and Florida. The pair had been living in a nearby motel where Blatz's four-year-old son was picked up by police and taken to Orangewood Home for the evening after his grandmother said she would take the first flight from Florida to take custody of the boy.
S. Coast Hwy & Thalia St Battery; Vandalism; Conspiracy 8:40 p.m. Four teenagers drove up and down Coast Highway squirting pedestrians with a water gun. They had filled the gun and a bucket at a fountain in town. At Thalia Street they squirted a man who had been jogging and was doing pushups while waiting for the light to change. He was hit in his eyes causing redness and discomfort before they squirted and damaged his iPod. He called police with a description and an officer saw the green Toyota 4-Runner as others were being squirted in the downtown area. A traffic stop was made at Cleo Street. Two boys, 16 and 17, from Laguna Niguel and Dana Point and two girls, also 16 and 17, both from Laguna Niguel, were taken to the police station on charges with vandalism, battery and conspiracy to commit a crime. All four were later released to their parents.
Thursday - November 20
10th Avenue - 31900 Block Felony Vandalism 9:19 a.m. The interior of a residence was damaged, possibly by a former tenant according to the RP.
Bermuda Drive - 1200 Block Credit Card Fraud 11:26 a.m. The RP provided police with a named suspect after a credit card had been used to make charges of about $600.
Friday - November 21
S. Coast Hwy - 600 Block Warrant Arrest 2:16 a.m. Long Beach resident Michael Robert Elliott, 20, was arrested on a West Court warrant for FTA possession of under an ounce of marijuana. Bail was $7500.
S. Coast Hwy - 600 Block Burglary, vehicle 6:07 a.m. A rear window was smashed to gain entry to a parked car. The RP said personal items including a knee brace were taken.
St. Ann's Drive - 100 Block Burglary, vehicle 8:19 a.m. Someone shattered a rear passenger-side window of a Lexus SUV overnight. The victim didn't find anything missing but the suspect had been cut smashing the window. Blood drops were found and police prepared them for DNA testing.
Aliso Viejo Parole Search 9:05 a.m. An officer who had taken a fraud/ID theft report felt that the modus operandi was consistent with a case he'd investigated in late November of last year. Linda Kaveh, 56, had been arrested, convicted and incarcerated on felony charges at that time after an elaborate scam using another person's personal information and credit card data to fraudulently purchase merchandise from two downtown retailers. Since she was currently on active parole, the officer led a parole search of her Aliso Viejo residence. Evidence was recovered that connected Kaveh to the current crime and she was arrested on charges of ID theft, grand theft and held without bail for parole violation. Ed. Note: Individuals on active parole or probation are subject to being searched at anytime without a warrant. Albertsons Market Fraud 1:29 p.m. The RP wired $750 to a person only to discover later that the individual had impersonated the intended recipient.
Anita Street - 300 Block Vandalism, vehicle 8:36 p.m. Tires were slashed.
El Bosque - 400 Block Burglary, vehicle 10:23 p.m. Suspects smashed a car window for access.
Three Arch Bay (N. Callecita) Trespassing 11:04 p.m. Sabrina Renee Allison, 36, Lake Forest, was arrested for trespassing when she refused to leave the gated community when ordered to do so by a security guard.
Coast Hwy - 31400 Block Burglary, residential 11:20 p.m. The residence of a deceased person was entered according to the trustee of the estate.
Saturday - November 22
Ralphs Market Shoplifting 4:11 a.m. Police received a 9-1-1 call that two store employees were running up Coast Hwy trying to catch a man wearing a light colored jacket and a black beanie who had taken three bottles of alcohol. The employees were unsuccessful but an officer saw and detained a man answering the description who was arrested after being identified by the employees. After an interview, police charged Oswaldo Antonio Ayala-Polanco, 21, Santa Ana, with felony commercial burglary.
Catalina Street - 500 Block Burglary, vehicle 9:24 a.m. A window was smashed for entry sometime overnight.
Coast Hwy - 31700 Block Warrant Arrest 2:38 p.m. A records check during a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Brandon Rothe, 24, Laguna Beach, on a LA Sheriff's warrant for FTA driver in possession of under an ounce of marijuana, a misdemeanor. Bail was set at $30,000.
Jasmine Street - 300 Block Burglary, vehicle 5:44 p.m. A bag containing a wallet was taken by someone who smashed a window for entry earlier in the afternoon.
Pavilions Market Shoplifting 9:59 p.m. A man left the market with a bottle of booze under his shirt. Before an employee reached him, the suspect got into and left in a silver four door Mercedes driven by a blonde female.
Sunday - November 24
Aliso Beach - East Parking Lot Under the Influence 12:20 p.m. Jason Brown, 29, Laguna Beach, was arrested for being under the influence of methamphetamine after an officer observed him acting strangely in the parking lot.
S. Coast Hwy - 100 Block Possession of Stolen Property 1:15 p.m. The owner of Tight Assets reported that four women had shoplifted. She provided descriptions and a patrol officer detained four women answering the descriptions as they were placing items into the truck of a car near Ocean Avenue and Beach Street. The items, clothing and accessories, had tags from Tight Assets and Chico's. Two 46-year-old women, Anahit Bagdasarian, Burbank, and Lusya Bakhtamyan, West Hollywood, were arrested on a felony charge of possession of stolen property. Bakhtamyan had an Immigration notation that she was here illegally from Armenia. ICE ordered that she be held for pickup for a deportation hearing.
Hawthorne Road - 400 Block Grand Theft 3:45 p.m. The RP left her car to pick up a relative inside a home. When she returned minutes later, the car door was open and her iPhone was missing. She gave police a possible suspect's name.
S. Coast Hwy - 600 Block Public Intoxication 8 p.m. Ryan Michael Trost, 31, San Juan Capistrano, was arrested for public intoxication.
