Monday - November 24
Glenneyre Parking Structure Burglary, vehicle 5:31 a.m. A window was smashed to get inside a 2007 Lexus. Losses were not specified.
Laguna Canyon Road - 2000 Block Burglary, commercial 2:09 p.m. Someone took approximately $100 in cash from the locked office of Laguna Batting Cages. There were no signs of forced entry but a fence was damaged to access the structure.
Broadway - 300 Block Vandalism, vehicle 5:40 p.m. Windows of a white Mercedes wagon were smashed.
Ramona Avenue - 500 Block Public Intoxication 7:21 p.m. Eli Lopiccola, 36, Laguna Beach was arrested for 647F.
S. Coast Hwy - 500 Block Public Intoxication + 8:43 p.m. Robert Charles Wilfong, 34, South Dakota, was arrested for public intoxication. He was also arrested for the same offense at 4:29 p.m. Tuesday at Main Beach.
N. Coast Hwy - 400 Block Public Intoxication 11:43 p.m. Juan Diego Le Clair, 37 of North Carolina, was arrested for public intoxication.
Tuesday - November 25
Police Station Grand Theft 9:01 a.m. A man came to the police station at the behest of Montage security to report the theft of a $1500 watch that was stolen when he was a guest there.
Main Beach Warrant Arrest 9:43 a.m. Rialto resident Archeston Rubi, 50, was arrested for a Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court with charges of evading the court's process and public intoxication. Bail was set at $25,000.
Police Station Grand Theft 11:34 a.m. The manager of the city's meter maintenance shop reported that two meters on S. Coast Hwy had been stolen over the weekend. The meters were valued at $500 each.
Miramar Street - 1200 Block Credit Card Fraud 12:37 p.m. The RP learned that someone unknown had used her husband's credit card to purchase a Toshiba laptop when it arrived at their residence via UPS.
Broadway - 200 Block Petty Theft 3:53 p.m. An employee of Laguna Drug called 9-1-1 to report that another employee had chased and caught a shoplifter in the alleyway behind Golden Spoon. The caller then advised police that the shoplifter had gotten away and was running toward Coast Hwy. Police and the employee encountered the suspect inside Starbucks. Dillon Patrick Bolton, 52, no fixed address, was taken into custody for a citizen's arrest charge of petty theft. He had taken a greeting card and immediately ran out of the store without paying.
Wednesday - November 26
Chillon Way - 2800 Block Burglary, vehicle 5:16 a.m. Police took two reports of burglary from a vehicle that occurred overnight. In one case, a wallet was taken from a Lexus and credit cards inside had already been used. In the other, the owner of a Dodge Magnum had a video surveillance tape of the crime in progress.
Scenic Drive - 31600 Block Petty Theft 8:45 a.m. Various and sundry small items were taken out of the RP's two unlocked cars overnight,
N. Coast Hwy & Irvine Cove Parole Violation 11:36 a.m. A routine traffic stop turned out to much more when a name check indicated Anthony Paul Rivas, 32, Redlands, was on active parole for burglary. He was ultimately arrested for driving without a license, possession of a meth pipe and held without bail for parole violation.
Laguna Canyon Rd - 3200 Block Defrauding an Innkeeper 1:21 p.m. A customer ran out of a business, jumped into a car and took off without paying for a massage. Police are investigating based upon a license plate number provided by the RP.
Monterey & West Streets Shots Fired 10:16 p.m. Three different 9-1-1 callers reported hearing between three and five shots fired in the area. Police set up a perimeter based upon the information provided and conducted what police term a "systematic area search". Officers left the area without knowing exactly where the shots originated.
Thanksgiving
Meadowlark Lane - 900 Block Petty Theft 7:29 a.m. While taking a walk, the RP said two males walked up to him and asked to use his cell phone. When he handed it to one of the two, they both took off running to a car and drove away.
Three Arch Bay (Vista Del Sol) Burglary, residential 10:12 p.m. The RP provided police with a description of an estranged son suspected of entering the residence and taking jewelry, handbags, cell phones and prescription medications with a total loss of $30,000. Police were aware of the suspect and had been searching for him to serve warrants with total bail of $95K. On Friday afternoon, the Hobie Sports store in Dana Point called the OC Sheriff's Dept. to report a suspicious man who possibly had a gun. Deputies responded and detained the estranged son until Laguna police arrived to take him into custody. Benjamin Scott Schachtschneider, 25, Laguna Niguel, was charged with felony residential burglary, carrying a concealed weapon (the handgun the Hobie employees suspected), and possession of a controlled substance (the prescription pills). He was also held for the four Harbor Court warrants one of which was a felony warrant.
Friday - November 28
Bern Court - 3200 Block Grand Theft 10:16 a.m. Sometime overnight, $9500 in cash was taken from the RP's unlocked car, which was parked in the driveway.
Cliff Drive - 300 Block Burglary, vehicle 3:57 p.m. A witness reported seeing a man smash a window of a Toyota 4-Runner and grab a black leather purse inside. He ran off on foot. Officers met with the victim and an area search began. About 10 minutes later, the suspect attempted to use the victim's ATM card at Wells Fargo downtown. He left before bank security could detain him.
Coast Hwy - 31100 Block ATM Fraud 4:51 p.m. At an undisclosed terminal, someone obtained the RP's ATM number and PIN to create a duplicate ATM card that was used in Northern California.
Second Street - 300 Block Burglary, vehicle 5:03 p.m. A purse was taken from an unlocked Lexus.
Bluebird Canyon Drive & Summit Drive Juveniles 10:17 p.m. After receiving a call that a group of teenagers were throwing things at passing cars, a patrol unit made contact with two males (16 & 15) and two females (17 & 16). One of the males was in possession of a bottle of rum and cited for minor in possession of alcohol. One boy was from Huntington Beach while the other three all live in Laguna Beach. They were released to their parents after being cited for curfew violation.
Saturday - November 29
El Bosque - 400 Block Vandalism, vehicle 10:38 a.m. A car was damaged overnight.
Sunday - November 30
Ocean Way & Moss Street No Bail Warrant Arrest 10:12 a.m. In this very space last week, we reported that Jason Brown, 29, Laguna Beach, was arrested for being under the influence of methamphetamine after an officer observed him acting strangely in the parking lot at Aliso Beach. At the time, the log noted he was on active parole, which we did not report because a parole officer had not violated his parole at that time. This week, Laguna police received a Dept of Justice no bail warrant for a felony parolee at large. Brown was taken into custody without incident and held at Santa Ana city jail without bail.
Glenneyre - 1600 Block Vandalism, vehicle 1:04 p.m. Tires were slashed.
N. Coast Hwy & San Joaquin Street Public Intoxication 1:08 p.m. Jeffrey Carmichael, 49, no fixed address, was arrested for public intoxication.
