Drive-by Shots Demolish Store Windows Shots fired from a pellet gun inside a passing vehicle shattered fivewindows of Coast Highway storefronts, causing several thousand dollars in damages between Bluebird Canyon Drive and Thalia Street on Tuesday night. Police said a call was received at 9:29 p.m. reporting shots fired at Wendt Gallery near Bluebird. Officersfound a smashed glass door when they arrived on scene. Sgt. Jason Kravetz said over a period of the next few hours, patrol officersdiscovered four other storefronts with broken windows, all but one on the inland side of the highway. The worst damage, Kravetz said, was at Frank's Motorcars at Thalia, where two large display windows had been knocked out by the drive-by shooter. All fivebusinesses required board ups with sheets of plywood by the firedepartment. Police were unable to estimate the total amount of damages. Sgt. Kravetz said police have not located any witnesses and ask that anyone with possible information that could identify a suspect or a possible vehicle call the police at 497-0701 x 0. |
