Alcohol Sting Nabs a Sole Seller

The Alcoholic Beverage Control and Laguna police worked undercover on St. Patrick's evening along with a 17-year-old in a minor decoy sting operation. The undercover officersobserved the minor enter 16 Laguna locations, which offer the sale of alcoholic beverages.

LBPD Sgt. Darin Lenyi said 15 locations refused the decoy after checking identification. A north Laguna restaurant, Picayo, served the minor decoy, resulting in a citation for sales of alcohol to a minor issued to Abdolhamid Risdana, 67, Laguna Beach.

Lenyi said the statewide program has proven to be effective in curbing under-age drinking. Selling or furnishing alcohol to anyone under 21 is illegal.
