Workshop Draws on Spirituality

In a unique workshop on May 18, artist Sylvia La will lead participants in contemplative drawing, a practice that slows the mind and anchors it in observation.

Unlike traditional drawing and composition classes, this workshop will focus on the process of drawing, rather than the product. This technique creates a non-threatening environment for drawing and inquiry. The drawing exercises will be framed with spiritual philosophies such as Taoism and Zen, however, participants will discover for themselves how drawing as a practice can bring one to greater awareness. Beginners are welcome. No drawing experience is necessary.

The all-day workshop will take place from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at 940 Hillcrest Drive. The workshop fee is $120.
