Price domestic oil less than the imported We all know that oil prices are set, internationally, by OPEC. Let international prices fall where they will, but domestically produced oil should be held to a different and more realistic standard. There is no ethical, moral or reasonable argument that supports domestic oil be on par with international prices. The United States exports almost zero oil, although an oilman told me they export some, just to kinda, sorta have the appearance of an oil producing and exporting country. Although American companies own or have interests in the oil shipped here, the oil taken from US soil should be set on its own scale, regulated and be priced at 50-75% less than international oil. Charging international prices on a domestic product is an example of shameless greed by the oil companies. Additionally, the Dollarís international weakness is a direct result of extremely poor and possibly irresponsible economic policy of our countries leaders. Adding to that, the very irresponsible and possibly illegal war in Iraq is bleeding the value of the dollar. Throwing US dollars around like a drunken sailor on leave, all over the world, essentially bribing anyone that pretends to be with us, only until they turn against us, is flooding the world with dollars, thus diluting the world with a devalued currency.
So, the solution to inflatedgas prices is to stop importing it. Regulate the domestically produced oil. Should the greedmeisters not like it, well, why should we care, they definitely donít care about the common US citizen. I canít imagine how they sleep at night. |
