Majors Division Hobie 3 Rotary 2

An exciting one run game that wasn't decided until the final out thrilled spectators at Riddle field on a chilly evening this Tuesday.

Team Hobie took the lead in the top of the second when Morgan Lebby led off with a single to left. He advanced to third base on consecutive groundouts and scored on a wild pitch.

Rotary bounced back in its half of the third as Elijah Cassard and Adam Rodner singled. Cassard scored on a pitch that got away to make it 1-1.

The nailbiter stayed that way until the top of the sixth inning when Hobie plated a pair of runs. After walks to Cole Hutson and Cameron Hall, Garrett Burk hit a single up the middle, scoring Hutson. Lebby followed with a single to drive home Hall and give Hobie a 3-1 lead.

The heart of Rotary's lineup came to the plate in the home half. Cassard worked a walk and scored on hits by Rodner and George Brown. With runners on second and third and two outs, Hobie's Steven Lavery fielded a grounder to third and threw out Mason Pitz racing to first giving Hobie a 3-2 win.

It was a pitching duel for most of the game. Derek Strombotne pitched 5 1/3 innings for Rotary, striking out 6. Rodner closed out the game for Rotary.

Lebby fanned 14 in his 5 2/3 innings of work before Sundance Severino got the final out and secured the save.
