Carriers Stamp Out Hunger

Letter carriers care about the communities they serve. On the May 10, in addition to collecting and delivering mail as they walk and drive along their routes, they will also collect non-perishable food donations and deliver them to local food banks during the 16th annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food Drive - the largest one-day food drive in the nation.

Customers can simply leave a bag of non-perishable food at their mailbox on May 10. Letter carriers will do the rest. The food will be brought back to the Post Officeand distributed to local charities, which in turn give it to people who need it.

Hunger is a growing threat among families across the nation. There are 456,000 people at risk of missing meals each month in Orange County alone. The Second Harvest Food Bank provides surplus food to nearly 400 charitable non-profit organizations throughout the county.
