Man Survives Four-Story Jump
A 31-year-old man who police said apparently tried to take his own life survived a leap from the roof of the four-story parking structure at South Coast Medical Center at 12:32 p.m. Monday. Police said his fall was somewhat broken by bushes at ground level. An unidentified hospital employee witnessed the attempt. Full Story
Ruptured Gas Line Hammers Canyon Traffic
Laguna Canyon Road traffic was snarled last Saturday after a backhoe ruptured a three-inch natural gas line at 8:44 a.m. Laguna Beach fire and a county HAZMAT response unit stood by as the gas company worked until sunset making the repairs and covering the line. Full Story
Laguna Heeds Obama Call for Service
The call came from Michelle Obama by email a week before Martin Luther King Jr. Day. "Volunteers," she wrote, "of all ages and backgrounds are committing to renew America together, one community at a time."
