Breakers Run Past Grizzlies

Zach Cornwell and Cheyenne Khosovi in the mile Senior Holden Penney captured three events as Laguna's boys and girls' track teams got their 75th league duel meet season off to a fast start with a rout of Godinez last Thursday, March 19, at Guyer Field.
The boys won 79-48 while the girls prevailed 90-27.
Five different champions set marks that exceed the CIF qualifying standards. CIF takes the individual league meet champions plus second and third place finishers that exceed a minimum standard. Many of the Laguna athletes are already close to the required marks, with six weeks remaining before the CIF league meet.

Breakers continued their duel meet activity, hosting Calvary Chapel earlier in the week and facing Estancia on April 23 and Costa Mesa, April 29. The league final is set for May 7 at Estancia.
Last season, Laguna won the boys titles but lost the duel meet and league meet for girls to Costa Mesa.
