Monday, March 16 - Sunday, March 22

Monday, March 16 9:30 a.m. - Injury collision. Two vehicles in front of South Coast Medical Center and Coast Highway were involved in a traffic accident. Traffic was disrupted for 30 minutes.

12:39 p.m.- Traffic Collision - Two sport utility vehicles were involved in a traffic collision at South Coast Highway and Brooks Street. The vehicles pulled over, one woman complained of neck pain and anxiety. Medical attention was refused.

1:38 p.m. - Burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime. A projector, $1,000 and two laptops were reported stolen from church property. The next day, on March 17, 9:15 a.m. a lead led to the arrest of alleged suspect Ross David Hamera, 18, at Laguna Beach High School, where he is a student. Alleged co-conspirators Adam Nathan Houghton, 20, and Olivier Guillaume Le Bayon, 21, both from Newport Beach, were arrested at the Laguna police station, when interviewed. All items and some of the money were recovered. The original loss was estimated to be $7,000.

Tuesday, March 17, 4:53 p.m. - Warrants. Police were dispatched to Citizen's Bank for a potential break in when a janitor reported seeing a suspicious person inside with a flashlight. As it turned out, it was Paul Edwards, 22, of Laguna Beach, a bank employee. However, after the Laguna Beach Police Department checked his records, he was put in custody for $2,500 in traffic warrants. failure to appear.

Thursday, March 19 Laguna Canyon Rd.

5:33 p.m. - Hit and run. A sports utility vehicle was seen causing a multiple-car accident involving four cars and fleeing the scene at Laguna Canyon and El Toro Roads. One person complained of head pain and medical assistance was called.

Friday, March 20 9:52 p.m. - Collision. A 17- year-old male driver, who lives in Laguna Beach, was involved in a single vehicle car accident at Bluebird Drive and Rancho Laguna when he failed to negotiate a turn and hit a tree. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

12:38 p.m. - Hit and run. A Sysco delivery truck allegedly hit a house, causing damage to the roof and rain gutter near South Coast Highway and Cress Street. The alleged driver is in his late 20s. Sysco was contacted and is trying to track down the driver.

Saturday, March 21 6:59 p.m. - A man returned to his Tijuana Street home to find his roommate deceased in the shower, a male in his 50s with a history of medical problems. The man appears to have died while bathing. No foul play is suspected.

7:25 p.m. - Suspicious activity. A man described as an adult Hispanic man, approximately 35, with short dark hair and clean shaven, is wanted for questioning for attempting to grab a teen-aged boy near Temple Terrace and St. Catherine's Church.

While the teen was skateboarding near the church, a man driving an older-model green, four-door Buick stopped him, and asked the victim if he wanted a dog. The man had three small dogs in the car. The man then told the victim to, "Come here," in a forceful tone and reached out to grab the victim, but was unsuccessful. Sunday March 22

12:55 a.m. - Attempted grand theft. Visitors staying in a rented home in the 1300 block of Gaviota were awakened by a noise. Looking outside, they saw a male suspect standing on the lower deck, throwing surfboards and boogie boards down onto the sand. After a call to the police, the alleged suspect, Aleksandrs Juris Dankers of Hermosa Beach was found hiding in a nearby yard. He was arrested for attempted grand theft. The five surfboards and three boogie boards worth $1,640 were retrieved.

1:04 a.m. Assault. Police arrested Raymond Frank Mendoza, 24, of San Bernardino, 24, for assault with a deadly weapon after threatening an Ocean Avenue Brewery patron with a knife. While people came to the victim's aid, the alleged suspect ran off with his friends. The alleged suspect was detained in the Wells Fargo parking lot. No one was injured.

5:32 p.m. - Felony DUI. Four people were injured and traffic was impeded for an hour at Camel Point and Coast Highway when the driver of a 1995 BMW struck the rear of one vehicle, causing a collision with two others.

Three passengers were taken to area hospitals with moderate head and neck injuries. Evan Christopher Anwyl, 21, of Escondido, was uninjured and arrested for a felony DUI. Police said his blood alcohol was three times the legal limit.
