Tidepool Film Earns Emmy Nomination
The Laguna Ocean Foundation's "Tidepool Scene," this past week received an Emmy nomination for an award in children's programming.
The seven-minute short film, produced by Barnstormer Productions and the Laguna Beach Visitors & Conference Bureau, educates children and adults on the importance of protecting a natural resource, the tidepools of Laguna Beach.
Fred and Jan Sattler, of Laguna Ocean Foundation; songwriter and performer Cheryl Procaccini; No Square Theater writer Chris Quilter, the city's marine protection officer Calla Allison and Visitors Bureau staff assisted producer Jeffrey Lehmann in developing the film.
The feature short plays on in-room channels of many area hotels, is distributed to schools prior to their field trips to Laguna Beach, is showcased on several Web sites and has been shown on regional cable television.
"We were delighted to assist the Laguna Ocean Foundation in achieving a long-term goal of producing a DVD on tidepool education and awareness. Our tidepools are one of our most precious natural resources and protecting them should be the mission of all who enjoy them. Jeffrey's captivating footage, generously donated to the project, made it all possible," said Judy Bijlani, the bureau's executive director.
The Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievements in television. Winners will be announced next month in San Diego.
