DUI Arrests

1200 Block and South Coast Highway - DUI Traffic Stop, Saturday 12:16 a m. Karim Elbahr, 32, of Costa Mesa was allegedly driving under the influence and cited. This is the second offense within 10 years.

200 Block and North Coast Highway - DUI - Saturday, 12:31 a m. Riverside resident James Kaiser, 32, was allegedly driving under the influence and cited.

Coast Highway and West Street - DUI Saturday, 7:28 p.m. Jennie Bergstrom, 23, of Rancho Cucamonga was allegedly driving under the influence and cited.

North Coast Highway at El Morro Traffic Stop DUI - Saturday, 11:47 p m. Jennifer Buda of Costa Mesa, 25, was allegedly driving under the influence and cited.

100 North Coast Highway Sunday, 2:18 a m. Traffic Stop - DUI. Long Beach resident Thaddeus Smith, 21, allegedly was driving under the influence and cited.

Thalia Street and Temple Terrace - Traffic Stop - DUI Tuesday, 12:31 a m. During a traffic stop, Costa Mesa resident Bette McCallister, 31, was allegedly found to be driving under the influence and cited.

Aliso Circle and Coast Highway - Traffic Stop - DUI 9:45 p m. Laguna Niguel resident Nancy Stubbs, 53, was allegedly driving under the influence and cited during a traffic stop.

Forest Avenue and Beach Street - Traffic Stop Alcohol Related - 10:04 p m. Long Beach resident Joshua Buck, 57, was allegedly driving under the influence and cited.

Diamond Street and Coast Highway - Alcohol related - Friday, 1:40 a m. During a traffic stop Natalia Astankina, 36, of Palm Springs, was found to allegedly be under the influence and cited with a DUI.

300 Block and Nyes Place - Traffic Stop - DUI -10:51 p m. Laguna Beach resident and motorcyclist Timothy Young, 44, was cited for allegedly driving under the influence.

Monda y, June 1

300 Block and Ledroit Street- Vicious 6:42 p m. A woman was "attacked by a wild dog" she described as a golden retriever. She refused medical attention.

100 Block and McKnight Street - Grand Theft -6:52 p m. A golf bag and cell phone with a total value of $1,400 was stolen the day before. The thief likely gained entry through an open garage door.

Tuesda y, June 2

2222 Laguna Canyon Road - Reckless Driving - 11:29 a m. A person called to report a reckless and dangerous driver coming inbound to Laguna, passing vehicles, heading into oncoming traffic and speeding. Officers advised.

Wednesda y, June 3

614 Cliff Drive at Divers Cove - Vandalism 10:41 p m. Graffiti in blue paint were found on the sidewalk in front of the parking meters.

2000 Block and South Coast Highway Warrant 3:29 p m. A truck passenger, Vincente Chavez Jr., 32, of Riverside, was found to have a $60,000 arrest warrant for alleged domestic violence and battery after an officer pulled over a vehicle with an expired registration.

300 Block and Harold Drive - Burglary -11:26 a m. Computers were stolen from both a car and home in a break-in the previous night. The culprit may be the victim's estranged husband.

Thursda y, June 4

1600 South Coast Highway at Best Western - Keep the Peace 12:35 a m. A hotel guest with two young children asked for a new room after two men allegedly hopped onto her balcony uninvited.

1316 South Coast Highway at Spencer Recovery Center - Medical 2:12 a.m. Female stated that she is detoxing and is feeling very ill. She missed the 8 p m. round of meds and is in need of meds now.

La Mirada Street at Summit Drive - Minor - 5:56 a m. Vancouver resident Dylan Haifley, 20, allegedly was littering and drunk and cited for false identification and a minor allegedly in possession of alcohol.

300 Block and Broadway Street - Fraud - 10:40 a.m. A person reported identity theft with a loss of $1,700.

700 Block and Wendt Terrace - Medical 2 p m. One person was seriously burned and transported to Western Medical Center after a kettle on a roofer's tar pot caught fire. Numerous callers reported seeing smoke.

Forest Avenue at Broadway Street - Traffic Collision - 3:43 p m. Two vehicles suffered damage when hit by a cement container that fell from a cement mixer truck. No injuries were reported.

31872 South Coast Highway at South Coast Medical Center - Drug Involvement - Public Intoxication - 11:45 p m. Lucy Hanan, 25, of Costa Mesa was allegedly under the influence of drugs and cited for multiple drug charges. Hanan allegedly fled while checking into South Coast Medical Center drug rehab; she was booked and transported to Orange County Jail.

Frida y, June 5

Beverly Street and Coast Highway - Traffic Stop - 3:07 p m. Police seized the rear license plate of a limo and cited the driver for the false evidence of registration following a car stop. An officer noticed the limo's tags were attached in an unusual manner. A records check determined the tags expired last October. The vehicle was released to the driver to pick up his wedding party in Heisler Park.

31872 South Coast Highway at South Coast Medical Center - Medical 5:45 p m. A man placed on a 72- psychological hour hold called the police to see if he could leave the hospital. Police could not grant his wish.

Saturda y, June 6

1183 South Coast Highway at Sandpiper - Battery - 12:47 a m. A man who is drunk called the police to report that he was hit in the face at the Sandpiper. He said he was sexually harassed because he is gay.

1460 South Coast Highway at Bounce - Public Intoxication -fight 1:23 a.m. A fight occurred at Bounce and an officer came to restore peace.

1009 Cliff Drive at Shaw's Cove - Medical - 10:59 a m. An exhausted scuba diver was administered oxygen on the beach after panicking and ingesting water during a dive.

North City Limits - Possession - 1:37 p m. During a vehicle search, Newport Beach resident Stefan Tidy, 38, was found to allegedly be in possession of marijuana and cited.

200 Block and Viejo Street Traffic Collision - 1:41 p m. The breaks apparently slipped on a moving truck, which hit some trees and property.

800 Block and Laguna Canyon Drive - Burglary - 1:48 p m. While the residents went out, they left their front door unlocked. When they returned $40 from a piggy bank was stolen. Police don't have any suspects yet.

696 South Coast Highway at Blue Laguna - Grand Theft - 2:07 p m. A $1,400 oil painting entitled "North Laguna Sunset" was taken by an admiring patron, who inquired about the artwork.

2000 block and Laguna Canyon Road - Verbal Threats 10:50 p m. A male was playing a "killing game" online when a person told him that he was going to kill him in person. The man that threatened him knew his personal information.

Sunda y, June 7

340 South Coast Highway at the White House Disturbance. - 1:24 a m. Three subjects beat up a man. The suspects took off southbound on Coast Highway and the victim declined to press for prosecution.

700 South Coast Highway at Ralphs - Public Intoxication - 2:40 a m. Two girls in their 20s were urinating in the loading dock. Police advised the subjects.

600 block and Ramona Avenue Suspicious 5:17 a m. Two people broke into a house through a window but have left. An ex-boyfriend could be involved.

Laguna Canyon Road at the 73 Toll Road- Traffic Collision- 12:16 p m. Jorge Edgar Valencia, 19, of Claremont, escaped injury when he lost control of his car. The driver apparently over corrected when pass- ing a slower truck and drove off the road, hitting a speed limit sign and a tree 100 feet from the roadway, said Sgt. Jason Kravetz.

The crash caused a vegetation fire, which was easily extinguished. Valencia was cited for allegedly lacking proof of insurance and for traffic violations.

31597 Tablerock Beach at Bluff Drive - Missing Swimmer - Lifeguards - 5:11 p m. Lifeguards were on the scene looking for a solo swimmer, a male, 25, who had been missing for 15 minutes, swimming alone. Harbor patrol was on scene helping with the body search. South Coast Medical Center was advised to call if the patient comes into the ER.

Anita Street and Gaviota Drive - Property - 6:30 p m. A purse with credit cards and pills was recovered from the bushes near Gaviota Drive stairs.
