The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences awarded a regional Emmy for children's programming on Saturday to the Laguna Ocean Foundation's "Tidepool Scene" video, produced by Barnstormer Productions and the Laguna Beach Visitors & Conference Bureau.
Laguna Ocean Foundation board members Fred and Jan Sattler, songwriter Cheryl Procaccini, writer Chris Quilter, the city's marine safety officer Calla Allison, voice-over artist Vivian Ecclefield, sound expert Chuck Everts and Visitors Bureau executive director Judy Bijlani worked cooperatively with the producer to develop the sevenminute video.
The feature short, which educates children and adults on the importance of protecting Laguna Beach's tidepools, plays on inroom channels of many area hotels, is distributed to schools prior to their field trips to Laguna Beach, is showcased on several Web sites and has been shown on regional cable television.
"It allowed us to showcase the 'real' Laguna Beach," said Bijlani. "Jeffrey Lehmann's captivating footage, generously donated to the project, made it all possible," she said.
