Society Offers Romance, Uruguayan Style
The Laguna Beach Film Society will screen “Gigante,” an Uruguayan romantic comedy, at
p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, at South Coast Cinema.
The Berlin Film Festival awardwinning film follows the obsession of a supermarket security guard who becomes mesmerized with a cleaning woman he spots during his nightly monitoring of the surveillance cameras. Full Story

“Shopping out of the closet” has traveled from recession-weary fashionistas to increasingly cash-strapped museums. After sifting through their permanent collections, the Laguna Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles are currently both showing well received exhibitions of their best works, some of which had not previously been seen before by the public. Store Lights Up for Beeswax Workshop
Pure Light Candle Studio is holding after-school “Beeswax Please” workshops at 4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through Nov. 27. ‘Splash’ Legacy Outfits No Square Theatre
No Square Theatre’s costume department recently was enveloped with new inventory, the recipient of thousands of dollars worth of unsold costumes thanks to Ken Jillson, Al Roberts and the AIDS Services Foundation.
The costumes had been accumulated over 25 years for ASF’s annual fundraising event, Splash, which Jillson and Roberts produced for a final time last month. Full Story
