Grand jury indictments were unsealed this week against 11 San Diego County residents, most of them gang members, who law enforcement authorities allege committed two armed robberies in Orange County, including the Aug. 25 stick-up of Laguna Beach’s Joshi and Baca’s Jewelry. Full Story
Coast Highway Accident May Be DUI Offense
Police intend to seek felony drunk-driving charges against Newport Beach man whose vehicle plowed head-on into another car, resulting in serious injuries to both drivers and disrupting traffic on Coast Highway last Thursday for several hours. Full Story
Burglar Crashes Wedding
Four purse-less guests attending a wedding at Tivoli Too on Saturday night returned about 10:30 p.m. to find passenger windows in their vehicles smashed and valuables stolen, police reported.
One of the thefts included the purse belonging to the groom’s mother, according to the police log. Full Story

Welfare check.
Scenic Drive. 1:29 p.m., A 54-year-old resident was arrested in his own driveway for DUI, unlucky enough to return home while police were on the premises watching him stagger from his own vehicle. Police had responded to a request for a welfare check from a relative. Full Story

600 block Laguna Canyon Road. 2:48 a.m. A 31-yearold Irvine man was cited for DUI despite informing the arresting officers his wife was in labor. She wasn’t.

Camel Point. Harbor patrol was notified about a 16- foot sailboat drifting south, apparently unattended. Full Story

LBHS. 12:08 p.m. Police were called to confiscate and cite a 14-year-old female student, who was found to be in possession of marijuana.

600 block of North Coast Highway. A 37-yearold man was arrested for sales and possession of prescription drugs after he sold them to undercover officers. Full Story

Surveillance.
200 block of Cliff Drive. 1:33 p.m. Leonard Leroy Van Wagenen, a 40-year-old homeless man, was arrested for alleged marithe juana sales after police observed him selling pot after making a dispensary transaction in Lake Forest. Bail was set at $20,000. Full Story

Pearl Street Beach. 2:30 a.m. Complaints about an illegal fire led police to arrest two Anaheim residents for various outstanding warrants: 19-year-old Joey Smith for resisting arrest and trespassing; and Daniel E. Mills, 25, for drunk driving on a suspended license. Full Story
Mystery Blaze Consumes High-Price Home
Fire investigators spent much of this week trying to determine the origin of a fire that consumed a $4 million, unoccupied ocean-front property and damaged another in South Laguna late last Saturday. Full Story
