Taking the Act Into Your Home

Some of the musicians eager to perform in home venues through promoter HelpBlueWater,com.

Rick Conkey and HelpBlue- Water.com is promoting the Blue Water Home Concert Series as a way to develop the intimate venues that musicians prefer while making live performances financially accessible to local music lovers.

Hosts supply their home as the venue, and guests participate by bringing a dish to share, a bottle of wine, and a financial contribution, usually about $10, to help pay for the performers. This way, homeowners have minimal preparations and minimal expenses, and everyone enjoys the food and wine and opportunity to hear local talent such as Just Jinjer, Jason Feddy and Sasha Evans in an intimate setting.

Conkey thus far has produced about a dozen such events, which have received favorable responses.

Conkey has alliances with a number of musicians available for potential concerts as well as local poet John Gardiner, a Shakespearean actor and storyteller, to serve as MC of their events.
