Woman Dies of Apparent Overdose
A 22-year-old guest in the 2700 block of Laguna Canyon Road was found dead at 8 a.m. on the couch where she slept last Tuesday, Nov. 17, and police suspect she may have died from an accidental drug overdose.
An official cause of death will await the outcome of a toxicology analysis, Lt. Jason Kravetz said.
The woman was identified as Dawnielle Nichole Jahr of San Juan Capistrano. She was a guest in her brother’s home, Kravetz said.
As a result of a search of the home, investigators found a small quantity of black-tar heroin among the belongings of Kathleen Sabine, 21, another overnight visitor who is homeless that police had interviewed earlier. She was arrested on suspicion of possession of heroin in the 300 block of Cliff Drive and held for $20,000 bail.
The investigation is still underway, Kravetz said.
