Garage Sale Customer Finds Missing Bike
A customer of a Jasmine Street garage sale on Sunday was surprised to find the beach cruiser she reported stolen among the for-sale items.
The bike was eventually returned to the rightful owner and no charges were filed against the yard sale host, said Sgt. Louise Callas. The woman holding the yard-sale said she found what she presumed was an abandoned bike, unlocked in an alley.
The bike’s owner reported the loss Dec. 7, the night after leaving the two-wheeler on Forest Lane.
Lifeguards Rescue Stranded Angler
Lifeguards J.J. Carvin and Josh Bynum swam out to Goff Island point to rescue a female angler, stranded on the rocks during a rising high tide Sunday morning, according to Bynum.
Her fishing buddy, who had been knocked into the water by a large wave, swam to shore on his own, the guard said. The two guards helped the uninjured female back to shore, walking across the submerged rocks in-between sets, he said.
