Appreciation for Community-Minded Paper

Editor;

On behalf of the Laguna Beach Community Alliance, and it’s parent group, the Laguna Beach Woman’s Club, our deepest thanks go to Indy’s editor Andrea Adelson for her ongoing support of our efforts to help community groups network and share resources. Last week’s article by Jennifer Erickson (“Expo Fuels Info Exchange,” Town Crier, March 12) beautifully captured the spirit of our upcoming Info Expo on May 1, which will be located in the parking lot next to the Farmer’s Market. Info Expo offers a fun and festive atmosphere for groups to share information, ideas and resources, increase membership and participation, recruit volunteers and inform the public about their work.

We particularly loved the story in Ms. Erickson’s article of how Sita Helms of Helping Hand Worldwide, met Rosalind Russell (aka “the goat lady”) of R Star Ministries at one of the Alliance’s meetings. Hearing that Russell needed computers for a school she established in Nepal, Helms, who had a source for used computers, was able to supply them to Russell. That sort of collaboration is what the Alliance is all about.

It’s so wonderful that Laguna Beach has a local newspaper like the Indy with a community-minded editor to help us spread the word. Thank you Indy, for the accurate and complete reporting. You are such an important part of this town.

Registration forms for the Info Expo are at www. lbcalliance.org or contact the LBCA at 497-1200 or officelbwc@ gmail.com.
