My Hero’s Director Receives Kudos

Jeanne Meyers, co-founder and director of Laguna Beach’s My Hero Project, was named the most impactful educator at the 17th annual International Education and Resource Network Conference in Barrie, Canada, last week.

“Since August of 1995 we have been providing a safe place online for people of all ages to discover and share stories, art and  lms about heroes making a difference around the globe,” said Meyers, who presented at the conference a new  lm on the website that features teacher Rowena Gerber of the Miami Country Day School. Her students are involved in solar cooking projects that raise money to provide solar ovens for people in undeveloped nations.

­ e annual conference unites students and teachers from 40 countries who share their experiences with technology. My Hero’s web site at www.myhero.com and its archive of hero stories, artwork and short  lms has viewers from 190 nations.
